  • Feel It, Name It, Regulate It: Classroom for Every Zone

    Funded Jul 9, 2025

Thank you to the college playoff foundation for your generous gift! Your support allows me to order essential items for our classroom and helps us start the school year strong. I truly appreciate your commitment to educators and students, it makes a meaningful difference. This project wouldn't have happened without you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Yencer

  • Student-Created Sensory Space

    Funded Jan 31, 2022

Thank you for your help last school year with our sensory stations that were set-up around our classroom. Not only was this beneficial to our class last year, but it is also beneficial to our class this year. Although, I have a new role in the district, the teacher that took over our classroom is still using the sensory items to help calm big feelings in our room.

As students are relearning how to "do" school after COVID; we are starting to see an increase in school readiness after almost 3-years COVID interrupted our school routine. Our students learning school readiness, is a huge part due to your generosity to help set-up our sensory space in the classroom.”

  • I Am Mindful

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

Thank you to all our donors that helped our classroom with our yoga mats and everything we needed to complete our Mindfulness exercises. This has been a huge success for our classroom this school year. We are working on our Zones of Regulation and using our Mindfulness tools we received from our Donors Choose to help regulate our emotions. Students look forward to coming in and grabbing their yoga mat to complete their Mindfulness exercises. They enjoy the 10+minutes they get from the Mindfulness exercises and this was only possible because of you. Thank you for making a difference in our classroom.”

  • Our New Normal

    Funded Sep 26, 2020

Thank you for your help to make this project complete. It has been an interesting year, with all virtual, then hybrid, back to all virtual, back to hybrid. The tools you have given to our classroom has helped my students in small groups while staying socially safe.

During this pandemic, it has been so incredible to see all the support the community has shown to us teachers to help give us the supplies and tools needed to be successful in the classroom. I really appreciate your support and feel blessed to continue working with students.”

  • The Creative Colorful Classroom

    Funded Aug 17, 2019

Thank you for your generosity to help our classroom be more efficient. We have a new desk and chairs to help us run small groups. We have additional fidgets to help students clam down efficiently when upset, angry, frustrated, and other uncomfortable feelings instead of throwing objects and/or slamming doors. Students have sporting equipment now to use during their earn time (when completed their work for the day and had good conduct in their classes). A lot of other amazing tools were added to our classroom because of your help. I cannot thank you enough.”

  • 90 Second Rule

    Funded Feb 21, 2019

Thank you for your generosity so each of our teachers can have a 90-second timer their classrooms.

On the first day of teacher training, we implemented our tab-in and tab-out strategy for our 2019-2020 school year. Teachers are to use the 90 second timer in their tab-in and tab-out sections of their classroom. This is a school wide expectation. During this time, students use the timer as they complete a brain maze to help calm big emotions. Students love this idea because it takes the emphasis away from being in trouble.

Students are learning in their advisory class that when a person has a reaction to something in their environment, there's a 90 second chemical process that happens in the body; after that, any remaining emotional response is just the person choosing to stay in that emotional loop.

These timers have been a huge success for our tab-in and tab-out system.”

  • Share a Book With a Friend

    Funded Nov 27, 2018

This project has been my favorite Donors Choose project that I have received!

My higher students are engaged in the book, Holes, during their small group time. Students are able to work through the study questions, learning new vocabulary words, comparing and contrasting, sequence of events, conflict and resolution, and much more. This has brought a whole new level of appreciation of reading. Some of my higher students are even starting to get interested in other chapter books (For example: The Outsiders), to read when they are not reading Holes.

My lower students are really enjoying The Magic Tree House series. They enjoy reading the book in their small group and listening to their teacher read as well. This has been a great opportunity to push them more academically than they have been in the past. This has allow me to see how capable they are as readers.

I can't thank you enough for being apart of this journey with me.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Yencer

  • Beats by YOU

    Funded Nov 5, 2018

Thank you for your generosity to help our class with our newest project. It has been nice for my students to be able to use their earbuds to block out noise to keep them focus on their assignment, to listen to the instructions more clearly for their online assignments, and it has been nice for me because the earbuds is keeping each student's assignment from interrupting or distracting others in the classroom. Each student was able to pick out the color earbuds they wanted to use for the school year, and are able to keep their earbuds in the storage pockets (using their assigned number). Students take their Chromebooks and sit on our new stools, wobble stools, and/or yoga ball chairs. This has been extremely helpful for our classroom. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!”

  • The Perfect Classroom

    Funded Sep 12, 2018

Thank you for your generous donations and help to make our perfect classroom. The punching bag has been majority of my students favorite item so far. My favorite area is my reading nook area with the lamp, night light, and rug for my students to use while they are independently reading.

Being the a resource teacher and special education teacher, I have students with a variety of needs. The yoga balls placed at our small group table helps my students focus during their station time. My students also often need a brain break during class time, or when they get tab-out from another class, to help them calm down. I was able to create a calming center with the fidgets I received from the help of you all. The wobble stools are also placed at the calming center. The wobble stools has been perfect for my students on the autism spectrum that generally rock back-and-forth. My students who feel overwhelmed, enjoy going to the calming center to just reset their minds. My students who are tab-out from another class, also benefit from this center to help calm those big feelings.

I seriously could not have created the perfect classroom without your help, and I truly appreciate the support you have shown my classroom.

Thank you from the bottom of all of our hearts!”

  • Give Kids The Gift Of Movement

    Funded Nov 10, 2017

Thank you for your generous donation to help get the movement for yoga ball chairs in the classroom started. Our yoga ball chairs have been a huge hit already in our classroom. Students are using them to work on their projects, writing assignments, while taking test, etc. This has been a fabulous new tool in our classroom to help students focus, when they are having a hard time paying attention, and when they just have a strong need to fidget. I am seeing how useful yoga ball chairs are for students first hand. My new future goal is to get each student their own personal yoga ball chair. I really appreciate all of your help and support to make all this possible!

Thank you again from the bottom of my heart! I wish all of you a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!”

I work with low poverty students that need extra support: academically, socially and/or behaviorally. Each student has their own individual needs that has to be met. One way I meet my student's needs, is by having a resource section for all of my students. This allows for us to work on each individuals need during this time. I also meet my students needs by pulling them out of their classes, and teaching them Math and English. This allows them to be taught in a smaller group setting, so they are to ensure success. Lastly, I meet my students needs by pushing in and supporting their needs in their classrooms. These students genuinely want to learn, they just require some extra support to help them achieve, inside the classroom and outside the classroom.
