  • A Pathway to Success: Reading, Math, and Beyond!

    Funded Aug 30, 2022

I am beyond grateful to express my sincerest appreciation for your incredibly generous donation to our classroom. Your thoughtful gift of reading games, rhythm sticks, and math manipulatives has made a remarkable and positive impact on our students' learning experience.

Since the arrival of these materials, I have witnessed an incredible transformation in the classroom. The reading games have sparked a newfound enthusiasm for literacy among our students. They eagerly participate in group activities, making learning engaging and enjoyable. The rhythm sticks have proven to be a powerful tool for enhancing their auditory and motor skills. The students love creating rhythm patterns and coordinating movements, boosting their concentration and coordination.

Moreover, the math manipulatives have opened up a world of possibilities for our young mathematicians. Students are now actively exploring mathematical concepts, engaging in hands-on learning experiences that foster a deep understanding of abstract ideas. This has significantly improved their confidence in approaching math problems, and I have seen remarkable growth in their problem-solving skills.

Your kind donation has undoubtedly enriched our classroom environment, empowering our students to embrace learning with enthusiasm and curiosity. Thank you once again for your incredible generosity and for believing in the power of education. We are incredibly fortunate to have you as a partner in our mission to nurture young minds and inspire a lifelong love for learning.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Yakimowich

  • A Home for Our Books!

    Funded Jul 3, 2019

Thank you again for supporting our classroom library. Our library brings joy, adventure, and lots of learning! During Word Study, students have the opportunity to "shop" for books and they can easily find a book at their reading label with our durable book bins. Our shelves are tall enough to easily house books of different sizes! We don't need to worry about them bending when they go into our library.

Our library is the center of the classroom. When students feel upset, they ask to sit at the library and read a book. It is a place of peace and tranquility. Thank you again for supporting our love of reading!”

    With gratitude,

  • Exploring Science - Field Trip to Kidspace Children's Museum

    Funded Oct 12, 2018

We thank you for your wonderful gift of exploration and learning. Our class had an amazing time learning about physics, biology, and engineering. As we walked around Kidspace, we were astonished to be somewhere that welcomed experimentation and curiosity. Often times in museums, students are discouraged from interacting with materials and engaging in learning but Kidspace was the perfect place for our class to get dirty and really learn about the world around us!

Thank you for you generous support. We are grateful for the memories and the opportunity to cultivate our curiosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Yakimowich

  • We Love to Read!

    Funded Aug 23, 2018

We are readers, learners, and explorers! Your donation of culturally relevant books has continued to support our love of reading. They have sparked conversations about social issues, mindfulness, emotional understanding, and acceptance. "Dear Primo: A Letter to my Cousin" was one of the first books we read as a community. We discussed how many of our family members live apart from us, in other cities, states, and countries. We related to both Carlos and Charlie's experiences and curiosities. From this text we realized that other countries are similar to our own but are also unique. "Dear Primo: A Letter to my Cousin" sparked interest in learning about different cultures around our community and the world.

Thank you again for the amazing opportunity to learn, explore, and understand the world around us! I'm excited to see what other questions arise as we read more of our amazing texts!”

    With gratitude,

  • Scientists on a Mission

    Funded Sep 27, 2017

Thank you to all the donors who made our Science Mission possible! We had an amazing time exploring Pasadena's KidSpace Museum. We were able to explore, discuss, and question structures around them. We learned about force, momentum, and acceleration. We become engineers, asked questions, and actually had the opportunity to answer those questions. We are grateful for our experience. Along with learning about the world around us, we had the opportunity to become a closer family. We played and laughed! It was an amazing and successful mission.”

  • Full STEAM Ahead!

    Funded Oct 17, 2017

Thank you for your support! Our class was filled with excitement when we found out our project was funded. We eagerly waited for our gifts and planned our STEAM projects. Since receiving our materials, our class has incorporated STEAM into two lessons. We read a great story about traps and were able to design and create traps of our very own! Our entire class was engaged in the engineering process. Secondly, our class read the story of the three little pigs. We decided to design and build houses out of different materials to test which materials would create sturdy houses under various weather conditions. Students were engaged in every step of the design process. It was amazing to see students discussing the materials they used and their reasoning behind using those materials. Additionally, students were excited to present their structures to the entire class. They answered questions about their structures and shared their next steps.

Our classroom has greatly benefited from our STEAM supplies. Incorporating STEAM into the class has made students feel empowered to share their thoughts with the entire class. Apart from using our materials for designated STEAM lessons, we use our STEAM materials for community building during lunchtime and on rainy days. Students are eager to build on their free time and explore their creativity and engineering skills. I am more than happy to provide students with the opportunity to play.

Our STEAM materials have made such a positive difference in our classroom. We are so grateful for the limitless opportunities we have to build, design, and share using our STEAM materials. We THANK each and every donor for their generous contributions to Room 48!”

    With gratitude,

  • Classroom Supplies for First-Grade Learners!

    Funded Jul 23, 2017

Thank you for your generosity! My students were beyond excited to receive their guided reading level texts, dice, watercolors, and school supplies. We all discussed how receiving these items was an act of generosity and kindness. In our classroom, we seek to be great community members, and this donation showed them how important it is to become involved in their community. We used our watercolors to create a cover for our books. Students were happy to express themselves using art. Thank you again for providing my students with supplies they need to succeed in the classroom.”

Many of my students do not have access to school supplies. In order to promote a community of learners, it is important that I provide quality supplies to all my students without placing a burden on their hard working families. Students need pencils, markers, erasers, and clipboards in order to engage in learning. Additionally, my students will use whiteboards and arts to engage in collaboration and creative learning. Additionally, the leveled books will provide students with more opportunities to improve their reading fluency and comprehension skills. They will have the opportunity to take these books home and practice with their loved ones!
