Listening Center for Struggling Readers
Funded Apr 2, 2012Thank you so much for the generous contribution to my classroom and my students. I love teaching first grade special education however it can be a struggle to inspire children to develop a love of reading. This listening center allowed some of my lowest readers to access the student texts and develop their comprehension skills. They love to sit and listen to the story and follow along with the story. I am seeing my students retain sight words that they once struggled with prior to the listening station. I also am able to use the center as a positive reward for my students with short attention spans or other behavioral modifications.
We very much appreciate you and the impact you have made on our classroom. Thank you for helping to ensure that each child in my classroom is receiving the education they deserve. ”

Table for Teaching
Funded Mar 14, 2012Thank you for your generous contribution to my students and classroom. This specific table has drastically changed the way that we are able to meet the individual needs of our students with learning disabilities. We are now able to adequately provide small group instruction daily in both math and reading. I am so thrilled to watch my students blossom as young readers and writers. Many of my students came to me at the beginning of the year lacking confidence in their own academic abilities. Through small group and one-on-one instruction my co-teacher and I are able to work with them individually and encourage them to grow.
We are so grateful to people like you who make our lives easier and are so supportive of ensuring that our students receive the education they deserve. Thank you.”

Classroom Calendar
Funded Mar 12, 2012Over the past couple months my students have been interacting with our new classroom calendars every day. Calendar math is an anticipated morning routine in our classroom. These colorful materials hang at the front of our room and are a daily reminder for students that math is both fun and a part of our lives every day. Every week we select two students to be our "Calendar Helper" and our "Weather Monitor" and these students love the responsibility of leading the class though our daily calendar routine. These materials are helping my co-teacher and I to reinforce skills we are teaching and facilitate accountable talk in our classroom.
We are so thankful for your support that is so visible in our room. Thank you for your generosity,”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Williams
