  • Terrific Transformations...Turning Sounds into Words

    Funded Apr 17, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donation. It has truly been impactful in my small group instruction. Small group allows me to fill in the gaps so that the students are better able to grasp larger concepts. Without your help so many kids would still be behind and struggling.

They say it takes a village to raise a child. Teacher in the inner cities, with often lack the resources to truly make the impact needed. With a village like you , it helps to lessen the achievement gap and better put the students in a place to be successful. I will never forget how kind, generous and selfless you are. Thank you for donating and helping me to reach as many kids as I can.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Watkins

  • Practice Makes Perfect

    Funded Jan 19, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donation. I truly am grateful for your selfless gift. One thing people don't always realize is that there are so many prerequisite skills that students often need to learn in order to accomplish the various tasks given. Having access to different materials from Teachers pay Teachers helps me to formulate meaningful opportunities for them to practice these skills given. It also allows me to create centers that help the students practice these skills in a fun way. Thanks to you, I am able to do my best to fill in the learning gaps, so that the kids can progress the way they need to. I am very grateful.”

  • Help Give Kids the Roadmap to Learning.

    Funded Jan 19, 2024

Words cannot express how truly thankful I am for your generous donation. Children at this age truly need visuals to help them learn and understand the materials. Thanks to you, I am able to create those visuals and allow them to truly grasp the concepts being taught. You help them to create pictures and make the learning real for them. Because these items are used so frequently, we run through them often. We used to be supplied with these basic materials, but due to the frequent budget cuts schools are no longer able to give us the basic things we need to make an impact. This year, I will be able to teach kids to read, write, add and subtract. I will be able to create posters that help reinforce the lessons and make the learning stick. This would not happen without your generosity and kindness. From the bottom of my heart, I want to say thank you, and I appreciate your selfless kindness.”

  • Scan it, Shrink it, Help us Think it.

    Funded Sep 20, 2023

Words cannot express how truly grateful I am for your generosity. Thanks to you I was able to create student portfolios and scan and upload their work. This will allow me to see and share their progression throughout the school year. It will also allow me to involve parents in the process which was a huge goal of mine. Having parents involved will greatly increase the progress the kids can make. Having the work digitally also allows me to see what they still need and provide assistance in small group instruction. I have been able to grade things at home and create instruction that is truly differentiated according to their individual needs. With the scanner, the date is truly able to drive the instruction. This has become a huge part of my planning. Strategic planning will net stronger results and I will have you to thank for that. I am truly grateful for you.”

  • Small Steps, Small Groups, Big Changes

    Funded Oct 11, 2023

I am truly grateful for your generosity. In my many years of teaching, I have realized that small group instruction is truly where the magic seems to happen. It is where you have those moments where the light turns on and you can see the learning take place. Thanks to you, my small groups have been more effective. Students are engaged and they love the supplies and books that you all provided. Thank you for your selfless generosity. I am so thankful for people like you and the impact you make on the students in our community. Our schools already start at a disadvantage. They are often underfunded. Thanks to you, the playing field is levelled, and we have a better shot at success. Thank you for helping to make me successful at creating readers.”

  • Biscuit finds a class.

    Funded May 15, 2023

Thank you so much for your generosity. When the children saw all of the books they were so excited. Comments such as "I'm about to cry" "I love this" and "I am so lucky" were all shouted by the children. For the next few days, the students didn't want to read anything but the new Biscuit Books. Even my normal read alouds were no longer the desired choice. The students literally only wanted to hear about Biscuit and his new adventures. Readings has once again become so exciting for my students. It is literally their favorite part of the day thanks to you. I am truly humbled by your selfless act of kindness. Thank you so much for always being so willing to support my students. We truly appreciate you.”

    Funded Apr 6, 2023

Words cannot express how truly grateful I am for you. Due to your generosity and kindness I was able to get a plethora of resources to help kids improve their skills. Essentially this helps them to become better readers, writers and scholars overall. With the resources obtained through your generous donation I have been able to help fill in some of the holes missing in their learning. It is very difficult when you know what needs to be done but you don't have the resources to make it happen. Thanks to you I am one step closer to helping the children achieve their learning goals.I humbly express my thanks and gratitude to you.”

  • Take a Look, It's in a Book

    Funded Nov 1, 2022

I am so grateful for your generosity. I am always so humbled whenever someone makes a decision to help make my classroom a better place. When the books arrived, my students were so happy. I created a special area where the children can read the big books during independent reading time. Even my nonreaders always want to go in that area. Anytime I select one of those books to read my students are so excited. They love looking at the illustrations, and they love seeing characters that look like them in the multicultural books. I am so grateful for you. You have helped my students gain a love of learning and literature that will be so important to their futures. Thank you for being so generous and kind.”

  • Study Math for a Better Path

    Funded Oct 25, 2022

I am so grateful for your generosity and kindness. Every now and again new initiatives are introduced with little assistance with resources to make the vision come to life. This year was the first year we were asked to use our creativity to teach math and not use our math books at all. Although in theory it sounded great, the execution of it sounded expensive and disheartening. I had so many ideas of ways to get this done that wasn't too time consuming but unfortunately I lacked the resources to make this happen. I am so appreciative of your consistent selflessness. Thanks to you I am able to execute the vision while being creative.

Thank you for bridging the gap. As teachers in underfunded areas we aren't provided with the resources that we need in order to truly be successful. Thank you for truly assisting us. It is almost impossible to be successful without resources. I am humbled by your kindness. Thank you isn't enough. I am so grateful for you.”

  • Reading Is Fundamental

    Funded Sep 14, 2022

Words cannot express how grateful I am for your generosity and kindness. In a time where technology is so appealing it becomes difficult to compete with computers, tablets and cell phone games. Instill a love of reading in the children becomes challenge when books don't seem as interesting as the devices the kids have. Kids always feel the need to be entertained and want instant gratification.

Making reading more appealing by making the reading area more inviting was instrumental in getting my kids to love books. My reading area is so inviting that the children want to sit there all the time. They want me to do all of my lessons from the reading area. They even get excited during independent reading because they know that they can go to their special areas. When I announce that it is time to get ready for independent reading I am met with smiles, happy faces and sometimes even cheering.

Thank you again for being so generous and kind. As school budgets continue to be cut the amount of resources dwindle yearly. Thanks to generous people like you we are still able to make learning interesting and fun. Classroom environment is so important in making the children feel welcomed. Classroom environment is a huge part in making the children want to come school. I am thankful for you and your contributions. Thanks to you, my meeting area has become most of the children's favorite place to learn.

Thank you again for being so kind and thoughtful.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Watkins

I am currently teaching first grade in an urban inner city environment in New York City. The area is a high needs community, and there are two shelters in the local area where many of my students live in. The school is a public school with limited resources and funds. The students however are passionate, and excited to learn. Many of the students have little support at home and some of the parents who are willing to help are also limited in their ability. Many of them come from broken homes with single parents who are forced to work long hours. When they get home from work, its difficult to assist the children with their homework. In spite of all of the odds, these students hunger for learning. Please quench that desire.
