Today a Reader, Tomorrow a Leader
Funded Dec 21, 2016I cannot express the appreciation my students and I have for these new books! In my classroom, students often take a while to move from one reading level to the next and small volume of books in a level means they might be re-reading the same text over and over while they master the necessary skills to move on. I want to engender a lifelong love of reading - in which book choice is critical. Student motivation is higher when they get to choose books that excite them - and reading becomes a joy instead of a chore. My students all have new "choice" book bags filled with selections from the series you purchased to expose them to literature they are excited to read in addition to the books they read at their own level. Students can't wait for "choice" reading time when they can choose these new exciting titles and read with a partner. Thank you for bringing the magic of reading a book you love to my students!”

Artistic Presents For Our Future
Funded Nov 28, 2013Yesterday my class studied the art of Henri Matisse. Through the beautiful hardcover storybook we received from your kind donation, we experienced the color and passion of this great artist. Through the activity book we read how to create our own colorful paper creations just like Matisse. Then, with brand new construction paper that wasn't faded or crumpled from years in the back of a dark closet, we cut and created our own paper creations with all the colors of the rainbow while we listened to jazz music, just like Matisse did.
When it came time for sharing highlights from our day, a student who has considerable difficulty expressing episodic memories such as special events from his day, raised his hand to say enthusiastically "we did an art PROJECT today! We got to cut out whatever shapes we wanted in all the colors and arrange them on the paper and it was SO MUCH FUN!" This was undoubtedly his longest relation of a personal experience this year, made especially poignant because he had never expressed a particular interest in art. Without your gift, we may never have found out the way his face lights up when he gets to use as much paper as he wants to make his creation perfect.
Thank you all so much for making experiences like yesterday's possible. We cannot wait to hear the response from our students as we continue to explore the lives of different artists and create our own art projects with the beautiful new materials you have gifted to us.”

This classroom project was brought to life by an anonymous donor and 7 other donors.Ravenous Researchers Require Resources
Funded Mar 8, 2012Thank you so much for the work your organization does to bring resources into the hands of our students. Empowered by your organization, our parents were able to rally behind us to give us the tools we need to give our students experience with cutting-edge technology. The kids dove right into using the tablet to take pictures and videos to document our learning, doing research using the Internet, and were eager to play learning games and read books on the new technology. This tablet has provided motivation and access to learning experiences for all of our students, and will continue to be of great use with next year's class. Thank you for your support and kind donation. ”

Help Us Cultivate Our Learning Environment
Funded Oct 27, 2011We can't thank you enough for the amazing gift you have given our class! By meeting our students' sensory needs, our students minds are free to be engaged in books and lessons. Our children can move beyond the tables and chairs, and share a book, hip to hip or write a story together, clipboards in hand. Rather than making our students who have sensory needs seem different, we all have cushions and understand that we all need tools to make learning happen. Thank you for giving us the tools we need!”
