After Hurricane Harvey, our school was one of the few schools in the Houston area to be displaced. Since returning to our school this year, there have been many challenges with providing for the students as we want to. We lost close to everything in our classrooms, so we are starting from the ground up with all of our resources. One of the major challenges is the amount of funding we have and how tight our budget. Unfortunately, we don't have extra money to spend on so we are without a few items. I have selected the items below that weren't provided and would love to have them in my classroom.
When you picture a Kindergarten classroom, you visualize sturdy, safe, and organized furniture. That is why I have asked for the cubby, the table, and the mobile listening station. As a teacher, I want to provide the students with a safe environment to learn and one that is accessible. These storage unit items are hard and sturdy and designed to hold our daily manipulatives like counters. I would like to be able to have these readily at hand, so that would be a great addition for my students. This would allow the students to be able to reach for the manipulatives and counters on their own. It's important to me that these Kindergartens are able to reach for the necessary resources that they need so that they can use the counters whenever needed. I have asked for the listening station and table because they would provide a place for students to work during our daily station time.
Thank you for reading my project and please help me create a safe, engaging, and education driven classroom!
