My students are Kindergarten and first grade elementary students who live in the West Philadelphia section of Philadelphia. About eighty percent of my students are eligible to receive free lunch and breakfast. My students are intelligent, creative and kind. Many are struggling readers who need extra care and support in reading. I want to help them reach their reading goal so they succeed as lifelong readers and citizens. I learned that if a child is not reading at the appropriate level by the end of second grade, the likelihood that they will succeed at every age level beyond second grade drastically decreases. I want to do everything that I can to make sure that my students reach their learning goal to be on their age-appropriate reading level by the time they finish their first grade year. They are all very hard workers so I know with love, the right materials,
