Sparking Creative Project-based Learning
Funded Nov 29, 2022We are using the materials you so generously helped us to acquire to create projects. I created board games to help them visualize Westward Expansion. They drafted and created tweets on paper to synthesize the Roaring 20's and the Great Depression. They will name a Time Person of the Year, create an image and write an essay supporting why they chose said person. And as a final project, supported by these materials they will show how history progressed with connected "Instagram" posts.
You helped us to manage our classroom environment, with the cleaning supplies. With supplies to helps us keep the space clean throughout the day our class is empowered and comfortable in the space. Students have taken ownership of the room and clean up to ensure its a comfortable space for everyone.
With the basics; pencils, erasers, markers, pens and post-it notes among other items students are supplied with what they need to succeed on daily basis. I cannot tell you how many times I've heard that our classroom is such a comfort because they have everything they need.
Your help has helped us to achieve our goals and continue to reach for more this year.”

Funded Sep 6, 2020My students are just stating to return to in person learning. I will not bee seeing all of them in person this year, but I really appreciate the flexibility that has been created in the classroom due to your generosity. Instead of having 30 desks crammed into my classroom, I now have 7 beautiful tables with unattached chairs.
I painted the tops of the tables with world maps and cardinal directions to liven up the space, but also to connect my students back to our material and to remind them of the larger world. In the past year, our world has gotten very connected but very small, and to have my students return to a classroom that feels both safe and creative is an incredible thing. Thank you.
In the future, when schools return to something a little more recognizable, I know that having these tables will allow me to create spaces in the classroom with distinct purposes. Group work can be more easily achieved since students will be able to move their chairs together. Gallery walks can be centered on tables for kids to congregate around, and when we do projects they will not only have elbow room, but will also have flat surfaces with less chance of materials rolling or sliding off and onto the floor.
This project has absolutely changed the way I feel in my classroom, what I can see happening with lessons, and I hope that it will also encourage students to work in collaborative groups and to think outside of the box.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Waters
