  • We Have A HEADACHE, GIVE US A TABLET(s)!

    Funded May 13, 2019

I can't be more elated about this project's funding. Many of my students do not have working technology at home, so, being able to have almost a class set of one on one technology, not only for educational purposes, but to allow for some freedom to explore the internet, play games, and just familiarize themselves with the endless possibilities that are out there. The Tablets are very important to students as they improve collaboration, developing IT skills, publishing, sharing and searching for information, creativity, flexibility in terms of space and time, and motivation in their studies. Thank you so much!”

  • ELMO's WORLD

    Funded Mar 22, 2019

The day our box arrived there was a lot of excitement in our classroom. The class knew we were getting a new piece of technology that would allow them to interact and share their work with the class.

Not having a ELMO, was hindering my students from being able to share their work and explain their thinking to the rest of their classmates as they take over the role of "teacher", which they love to do.

Having the equipment to properly teach, have students share and make everyone feel successful....is Priceless!

Words cannot express our gratitude and Thanks for our new ELMO!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Nieves

  • Prints Charming

    Funded Aug 22, 2018

Our color printer finally arrived! Look at the smiles on the faces of these happy kids! Many of my students do not have a computer or a printer at home, so if i assign them to do research and bring the information in they can't, both of my small outdated printers in class only print in black and white....this beautiful color printer will allow my students to print their research and beautiful color copies. They can't wait to try it out in class tomorrow to print of their animal research pictures.

Having technology in the classroom gives me and the students new opportunities for learning, ways to collaborate and create. Technology is a very powerful tool for education which in turn will prepare our students for future careers. Integrating technology into the classroom is an effective way to connect with students of all learning styles.

There are several students in my classroom who have very poor handwriting, they love to type their writing and now will be able to print their work. My students are so excited that they will not have to wait to print their work.

Thank you so much to each and every donor who made this possible...”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Nieves

  • "Basic" Essentials for a Successful Year!

    Funded Sep 9, 2018

When my students learned that this year all of our subject areas had a certain color, they asked if their folders would match the colors of each subject. I told them that I loved that idea. So, we decided to create a project asking for folders. These folders have helped us with organizing our work. You wouldn't think that something as simple as a folder would put a smile on the faces of 7 year Olds, but their smiles were huge! They expressed that doing this would help them quickly identify which folder they needed when we were doing work. They were so excited to decorate the folders to reflect each subject.

When I told my students that the project was funded, they jumped for joy, couldn't wait for them to arrive they said.....

When the boxes arrived, I sat them in the front of the room..we all gathered in our meeting area to begin opening our boxes. They were so excited to have matching folders. They expressed that doing this would help them quickly identify which folder they needed when we were doing our work. It's the little things that put the biggest smile on their faces, which puts a great big smile on mine to see that each student in my classroom is able to have all the supplies they need. Thank you very much to each and every donor who helped make this possible.”

  • Getting Comfy and Cozy in our Reading Corner

    Funded Aug 18, 2018

My students entered the classroom on the day we received the rug. I placed it standing upright in the front of our room. As they entered, I saw puzzled looks on their faces, many asking, "What is that"? "Is that for us"? I stood looking at them looking at me. I asked, "What do you think this is"? Many different answers being called out in excitement, a RUG!...it's the surprise you said was coming.

Since September my students have been sitting on the hard cold floor in our meeting area. We were trying to figure out how we could possibly make our meeting area more like home. It is so much nicer to be able to sit on a warm, cozy rug, either reading, playing math games, or just laying on their stomach listening to a read aloud or watching an educational video. When my students are getting ready for reading or writing workshop I always get the ..I'm going to work on the rug!

It brings me such joy when I know that my students are excited to sit on our rug to do work....no one ever asked to sit on the cold floor. I want to thank all of my donors from the bottom of our hearts. Thank you for a cozy place in our classroom....Now, lets get some comfy seating to go with our comfy rug!”

  • Technology and Math for ALL!

    Funded May 11, 2017

Words cannot express the joy your generosity has given to myself and my students. The use of many laptops and a color printer enabled my class to explore the Internet, play games , and do research. The color printer gave us the opportunity to display our work. Many of my students did not have internet access t home nor the use of any technology. So, the classroom was their only opportunity. Each and everyday, every child was able to use the computer.

Many of my students were working on becoming fluent readers. With the assistance of the Hear Myself Sound Phone, the opportunity to hear their voices as they read to me, a partner or themselves improved their fluency dramatically. What a great product!

All of the items received with the generous donations of our donors put huge smiles on the faces of students. Many of my students do not own computers at home. School is the only place they have to use them. I had a few students who were non workers. With the introduction of the new laptops and color printer to our classroom made them want to complete their assignments. This was definitely a breakthrough for them. This changed their attitudes toward classwork and school. "School is Cool", they said. Seeing the excitement on their faces is what it's all about.

    Than You again!

We cannot thank the donors and their generosity, for without them teaching and learning wouldn't be the same. Receiving the product has helped me help my students succeed.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Nieves

  • Maximize Our Learning.

    Funded Dec 20, 2016

Nothing puts a smile on my face more than watching my students beam with happiness. I have never seen them get so excited about reading. We just began a unit on informational reading and writing. Our new library arrived just in time! Having books that they could choose at their reading level got them super excited..They couldn't wait to open each pack and get them ready to place on the shelves that we had prepared. Knowing that my students now have the opportunity to choose from among many books that interest them is definitely going to increase their interest in informational texts. The laptop gives me the opportunity to have more than one student using technology in the classroom. They love practicing math, using reading programs and now being able to do research without having to "wait" their turn. Thank you so much for putting smiles on the faces of my students!”

  • From Textbooks to Technology and Beyond!

    Funded Jun 7, 2016

What a Great feeling it is to know that there are people who are as dedicated to my students as I am. Dedicated to improving the education of students from all walks of life that they have never personally met. My students were so excited to see that we have a new computer, library and E.L.A. activities to help them become successful in the second grade. Once again, Thank You so much for your donations. My students truly appreciate it. They will now have the opportunity to surf the web, read books and improve their reading skills through the use of the E.L.A. activity sets. Words cannot express my happiness and gratitude to all my donors.”

  • Bringing Technology Into Our Class!

    Funded Apr 22, 2015

Words cannot express the joy and excitement on the faces of my students when we received the generous donations for our class. They were puzzled at first when I showed them the Elmo....after hooking it up and showing them how they will use it, they were ecstatic. They started discussing how they were going to use it and who would be first.

The students are using the Elmo and Laptop in small groups to project the math interactive games and practice on a wall. They are and will continue to use the laptop for research as well as learning how to use the features. Many of my students do not have any type of computer at home, so this was extra special for them.

Many, if not all of my students are visual learners. Being able to project things so they are able to see it has greatly improved my students confidence. They love working together navigating the features and get overly excited about being able to do it themselves.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Nieves

I am the teacher of an active second grade class . My students are eager to learn and willing to give 110% to achieve their goals . We are a Title I school, 100 % of our population receive free lunch. My students are thirsty to learn new things and to use a variety of technologies. Many of them do not have the necessary tools at home to be creative so I want to have the necessary tools in our classroom, their home away from home that they can use at their leisure. Help me put a smile on their face.
