My 150 students are a diverse group of youngsters from all over our large city. Out of 87 schools in our district, our school is the most racially and economically diverse. Despite the high quality instruction happening at our school, our classrooms are under-resourced, and I'm challenged with meeting the variant needs of the 30 students in my classroom. Nevertheless, my students impress me every day and teach me how to be a better person. In my classroom, students are tasked with solving problems that will prepare them for their future, and they tackle these tasks as a learning community. My classroom buzzes with academic conversations. During a recent project on technical writing tools, students wrote instructions on folding an origami unit, using color-coding, arrows, diagrams, and sequencing. Given work time, students were leaning in, helping each other and producing independent projects all at once. The technological resources I'm asking for will help us focus on learning.
