Funded Dec 15, 2018The counselors at Jim Hill High School are extremely appreciative of your donations. It goes without saying that our counseling program is underfunded, even though there are various projects and events throughout the year that we host that require money to operate. We all felt that a beautification project would serve the often overlooked need to create a welcoming and beautiful space for children to learn. One of the counselors even came out of her own pocket to purchase green and gold paint, our school colors, to paint the walls in our suite. The supplies that we received have allowed us to decorate the counseling suite further. For instance, we have used butcher paper to decorate the bulletin boards and to even create bulletin boards in places that needed one. Our library does not have adequate funding to keep supplies like this in stock, so it is truly a blessing to have been funded. We highlight a student and faculty member of the month on one board, counseling news and events on another, a monthly college spotlight, and our ACT Star students on others. It is our goal to create another board, or hopefully purchase a board, so that we can highlight various awareness months. In particular, we recently celebrated anti-bullying awareness month and teen dating violence awareness month. We would create a board that includes information and tips pertaining to these topics. The die cut machine and color ink will help us to beautify these boards.
Additionally, although it seems silly to say, we did not have chairs for our table in the counseling suite. With your donation, we now have four beautiful golden yellow chairs to allow our parents and students to relax while they wait for appointments with us. Having a colorful and creative space enhances the learning environment, and we are so so happy that you have been so selfless as to donate to our project!”
With gratitude,
