  • Literacy Fun

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

Thank you so much for helping me put technology in the hands of my wonderful students. The iPads made learning to read so much fun! The iPads helped to enhance my students' learning experience. The iPads were used to reinforce the new literacy skills being learned, as well as to review concepts learned throughout the year.

Thank you so much for your kindness! My students and I are so grateful for your generosity. Thank you for believing in us, and supporting our learning journey. Your donations were greatly appreciated!”

  • iPads for Future Computer Scientists

    Funded Feb 21, 2019

Thank you so much for believing in my students! Thank you for bringing technology to my students' hands! My students have used the iPads for a variety of things. For example, the iPads have given my students access to computer science programs. Also, the iPads have helped them explore and investigate their curiosities through research and science simulator programs.

My students loved using the iPads for coding. They begged to use the iPads every day! They also loved doing research on animal adaptations with partners. They were able to research using different types of media such as ebooks, articles, and science videos.

There were students that had never used an iPad before. They became quick learners! I also had a few student helpers that would help others manipulate the iPads, as well as help them with the computer science programs. Thank you for giving my students this opportunity!

Once again, thank you so much for your donations! Thank you for investing in our future computer scientists!”

  • Investigating with iPads

    Funded Oct 24, 2018

Thank you so much for supporting my students. My students love the iPads that you helped us obtain! We have used them for many different things. We have used them for researching, coding, and used educational apps.

The most exciting thing about using the iPads in the classroom has been the flexibility of using them anywhere in the classroom. My students loved using them for their coding activities the most. The iPads have also encouraged collaboration among my students. They work together to help each other when completing tasks.

Some of my students had never experienced using a tablet. They would ask me every day if they were going to be using the iPads during our centers. They went from not knowing what to do with the iPads, to becoming familiar with this piece of technology.

Once again, thank you so much! Your kindness has impacted my classroom in so many ways! My students seem more motivated to learn! You have also given my students access to the technology that they cannot obtain at home.”

  • Exploring, Discovering, and Creating through Technology, Literacy and Science

    Funded Oct 23, 2017

Thank your for supporting my classroom! The technology that we were able to obtain due to your generosity has been used for a variety of different learning experiences! My students have been able to use the laptops and printer to help supplement their learning among the different subject areas. For example, the laptops have been used to engage my students in science simulation activities, research, and creating projects that integrate technology, science, and reading skills. It has also encouraged my students to work collaboratly on different projects and assignments.

The students found the laptops the most exciting because they were able to use them for many different things. For example, they enjoyed playing games that helped them review Science, Social Studies, Reading, and Language Arts skills in teams. They also enjoyed working together to research famous inventors and people in history, finding pictures and images, and having a printer accessible to them to print their assignments, and creating amazing projects to present to their classmates.

Many of my students enjoy the opportunity to use technology in the classroom. I have a few who have taken the role of being my classroom "Computer Techs." These students help fix technical problems that may occur. For example, if the wifi is not connected, these students know how to fix the problem. If a student does not know how to cut and paste images, they will assist them. Or, if a student is having trouble with the computer games or simulation activities, they are also there to help. I also have students that prefer completing assignments digitally, instead of with the traditional pencil and paper. Being able to use the computers helps them to focus. My students are also eager to finish their assignments so that they can read e-books on the laptops.

    Thank you so much!”

  • Packing Up for Our Learning Journey

    Funded Feb 15, 2017

Thank you so much for having such a kind heart! My students were so excited when they received their new backpacks! They couldn't believe that our project was funded! Seeing their little faces glow was priceless.

Thank you for helping me motivate my students to learn! Thank you for being part of our learning journey this year. We are very grateful for your contributions. I believe that every child should have the necessary supplies to learn. Thank you for sharing my vision, and sharing your resources with us!”

  • Feed My Belly and Brain!

    Funded Dec 8, 2015

    Dear Donors,

Thank you for your donations! This school year my third grade students received boxes of snacks, juice, and water. Their eyes lit up with joy each time a box was delivered. We will forever be grateful for your contribution!

My ESOL students were delighted to have snacks given to them before each tutoring session. I believe that this impacted my students in a big way. My students were able to meet their basic need of eating, causing them to focus more on what was being taught, rather than hunger pangs.

We have reached the end of the school year. We are reading "The Lemonade War." We plan on using the skills learned in tutoring to read and participate in hands on activities related to the book.

Once again, we thank you for your kind gestures!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Alvarado

I teach reading to third grade students in a South Florida Title 1 school. Most of the students attending my school come from low income families. 98% of the students enrolled in my school are on free or reduced price lunch, or fall within the near poverty guidelines. Many of the students in my school come from homes where parents do not speak the English language. Many of the students do not have Internet or computers at home. The only place where they are exposed to technology is at school. The students must become familiar with using technology because standardized tests are becoming computer based. Without the exposure to technology our students are disadvantaged compared to other students who are exposed to technology on a daily basis.
