Funded Oct 27, 2017The various seating options for my students have been such an amazing addition to our classroom! They have allowed us to create new spaces for collaboration, independent work, and partner work. They have allowed students to reflect on the space they need to get their best learning done, especially for those students who struggle with working at a traditional desk.
When my students first saw the new seating, they were ecstatic. They were so excited to try out the different options. That excitement hasn't faded overtime, and in fact is many times a motivating factor to get up and move around the classroom to work with new classmates.
As fourth grade heads into the last part of the school year, there are increasing opportunities for independent choice and group work. I am so excited to continue using these seating choices as opportunities for demonstrating responsibility as my students grow as learners and human beings. Thank you again for your support.”

Stepping Up Our Technology Game!
Funded Jul 12, 2017Thank you so much for the donations and inspiring words. My students have been so excited about using this new technology to learn in so many different ways. The Chromebooks have opened up a world of possibility for my class. These Chromebooks have added an extra dimension to every subject in 4th grade. Whether researching poets and their poetry, exploring Google maps to gain an understanding of the geography of New York State, or playing math games to enhance their math skills, my students are engaged in their learning in a new way.
This year's class of 4th graders includes 32 energetic and curious minds. With so many students and just one me, the Chromebooks have allowed for a new type of differentiated learning where I can create assignments for students based on their abilities and interests. Education technology is a fast-growing field, and the numerous websites and apps that my students can now access has allowed for more time spent learning in ways that they simply can't in a physical classroom. In writing, for example, students who need a challenge are able to search and read model writing to get ideas on how to improve their own. My students who struggle more with the physical process of writing and spelling can use speech to text in order to focus on the quality of their piece.
I love seeing how excited my students get about using the Chromebooks. I know that they are learning technology skills that are going to be crucial to their education and lives moving forward. That is all thanks to your generous donations and kindness.”
