I am asking for Amazon Fire tablets, Osmo kits for my students, as well as some flexible floor seats for my students. Osmo enables the tablets to merge the power of physical play with the digital advantages of real-time feedback. Playing beyond the screen invites students to collaborate on tables or floors while manipulating tangible game pieces such as number tiles, letter tiles, and blocks. The different Osmo apps and flexible floor seating options tap into a student’s curiosity and creativity to encourage hands-on problem solving and social skill development. Working alone or in groups, the Osmo apps provide the right amount of challenge, pushing the students to continue developing their skill sets and challenge themselves. It’s learning through play! The Osmo kits I am asking for all have an important purpose. I am asking for kits that will build students reading, vocabulary, fundamental skills surrounding letter recognition and decoding. The kits will also help students build number sense, counting, addition, subtraction, and much more. The best part about incorporating Osmo kits and tablets into our curriculum is that each child will work on their level. Osmo kits can all be differentiated to make learning fun, engaging, purposeful, and challenging. The purpose for adding flexible seating options is to give students a choice in what kind of learning space works best for them, and help them to engage in critical thinking. I plan on using the comfy floor seats for student choice as to where to sit when we are reading, using our Osmo kits, or simply sitting around the room during a lesson.
