Resources for the Resource Room
Funded Feb 25, 2023Thank you all for funding this project! We received the reading and math kits and game in the spring and have been using them since. One of the students' favorite activities is the 'Splash Multiplication Game' where they need to quickly collect 10 multiplication cards by solving them correctly while avoiding 'splash card's where they lose the cards in their hand. We are still working on division facts but I'm sure they will have just as much fun once they are ready for the 'Splash Division'. The reading board games are the next favorites of my students. They enjoy the board game play while practicing their reading comprehension skills.
We have enjoyed using all the activities and resources provided by your generous gift!”

Funded Aug 8, 2020I was excited to receive the funding for a drawing/writing tablet and the $100 gift card for TeachersPayTeachers. With distance learning, I had to transfer my teaching to Zoom and videos. Although I do still occasionally need to use a whiteboard and write on paper, it is much more engaging to be able to write on the slides and digital whiteboard. My students were so excited to see my writing on their screens and it was much more readable compared to using the mouse.
So far I have used half of the gift card to purchase a digital alphabet activity and a beginning writing curriculum. I use the alphabet slides with several students who need more practice with their letters. I am also able to share the interactive alphabet slides with students so they can complete it as assignments. The alphabet and writing activities is displayed through screen-share on Zoom as I complete the activities with student involvement.
My next steps is to explore different interactive lessons to purchase with the gift card and to find different ways to make distance learning more engaging. Thank you again for your donation!”

Funded Mar 27, 2018It was amazing to hear that my project got funded and my students were so excited! All of my students now have access to headphones to use during our class computer time. My students were happy to listen to different stories read aloud and reading songs with the Block Rocker and CD External drive. The microphone from the Block Rocker is being used by students for student presentations and for my very quiet students to share answers with the class. The projector is being used to show work and model classwork with students.”

Funded Feb 22, 2018Thank you for your amazing donation to our classroom! My students were trilled to see the new equipment and couldn't wait to use them. The kickball and basketball is being used with recess and structured activities such as taking turns passing the ball back and forth and throwing the ball. The yoga mats are being used inside and outside the classroom for yoga and mindfulness activities that help students with focus and balance. We are going outside more often and using the new equipment with the sunny weather.”

Funded Dec 5, 2017Thank you for your donation to our classroom. The sensory tools have helped my students better focus on their learning. My students are using the cushions on their chairs to get their wiggles out as they do their desk tasks. Students are also learning how to use the porcupine balls as fidgets so they can move it quietly in their hands instead of other distracting behaviors such as hitting their desks and has helped several students be more focused during lessons. The wiggle seat and pencil toppers are being used by my student who have the most difficulty focusing, helping them stay on-task.”

Academic Activities For A Special Education Classroom
Funded May 10, 2016Thank you donors for your wonderful gifts to our classroom. The materials you have helped purchase are currently being used in my classroom. All of the math and phonic activities are being used during our math and literacy centers as supplements to their core lessons. For example: During literacy stations I teach the core lessons, while my para-educator will help students recognize their letters using the Tactile Letters Set, for more advance students they would be engaged in the Build-A-Word Magnetic Board building word.
My students were excited to 'play' with the different activities. They were engaged in the activities because they were fun while learning at the same time. I explained to my class how some very kind people donated these wonderful activities so they want to thank you for your generosity.
Since the new school year is approaching I am thinking about requesting some school supplies for the new year such as dry erase markers and printer ink which we are always in need of.”

Classroom Supplies for Special Education!
Funded Dec 2, 2015Thank you for donating to my classroom! The supplies you have help purchase is currently being used in my classroom. The dry erase markers are being used for whiteboard work in literacy and math. The supplies such as the highlighter, notebooks, and glue sticks are used in different in-class assignments. I have been using the easel pad to write important information ad post them for our lessons.
My students were excited to receive brand new supplies and were eager to use them. I explained to my class how we were able to get new supplies for our classroom. They want to thank you for your generosity.
Currently my goal with students is to better engage my students in their lessons. I am exploring phonics and math games students can play with as they learn. We had some headphones and earbuds left over from last year for students to use however many are old and broken. Another project idea is to fund for new headphones or ear buds and headphone splitters for my students so they can listen to videos and programs from the schools computers.”
