Up to Date Tech to Build 21st Century Learners!
Funded May 16, 2022First off, I would like to thank you again for your generous donation to our classroom. Your donation is beginning to make an impact in my class and the lives of the students using them. I am using the three iPads you have donated to teach kids basic coding skills that are critical to being a 21 century learner. Aside from this students are also getting exposed to skills that will develop over time and make these children competitive in the work force later.
So why teach second graders to code? This is a question I get often and there are several reasons to this. The first is that many of these students know how to use technology such as websites, apps, and video games but they don't often know how they work. Teaching students coding opens their eyes to how fun and challenging coding can be as well as what it takes to create some of their most loved hobbies. Secondly, exposed students to coding at a young age provides them space to explore future career paths that they may not have realized until later. Third coding is FUN! It is like learning a new language whether it be python, java script, or scratch students will be able to deep dive into a new hobby.
Along with coding I am planning to teach students how to use TinkerCad a cad software that will introduce them to the world of 3D design. Your donation is going to make a lasting impact on my students for years to come.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Teran
