It's Just Write!
Funded Jun 9, 2020Thank you so much for caring about my students and helping to give them much needed materials.
As soon as I received materials I immediately put them to great use. I wanted more art supplies and learning materials for students to be able to express themselves. I asked for primary notebooks, pencils, crayons, colored pencils and dry erase markers. The students use these supplies EVERYDAY to do their work. Students and parents were so happy and relieved to know they did not need to go out and find school supplies. Usually my students share supplies. However, due to Covid 19, students are unable to borrow and share so I was able to provide learning materials to each student and have some left over for students who are transitioning to the classroom.
When the students found out they were getting supplies to work with, they were so excited. They wanted to start using them right away. They told me about writing and drawing on the computer is so different and hard. Sometimes its just better with a pencil and paper.
Everyday students complete a fun writing prompt. I give them the choice to use the computer or their notebook. Most choose their notebook to draw and write really creative responses and I thank you for helping to help my students express themselves and be creative during hard times.
Our school community was deeply impacted by Covid 19. It is a great relief for families to have learning materials for their children. We will be continuing to use these learning materials for the remainder of the school year doing fun projects.
Once again, I thank you so much for your generous support!”

As soon as I received materials I immediately put them to great use. I wanted more engaging read alouds for my students during this time being remote. Each day, I read a book to my students during our live instruction and post it online after for the children who are not able to join. The children love these read alouds! I am getting continuous feedback from parents, who say that listening to the read aloud is their child's favorite assignment of the day. The students then respond to the read aloud, telling me if they liked the book. Some students with siblings say that their siblings also enjoy the books. I plan to use these read alouds year after year with all my future students.
I have also asked for learning materials, which were used in a project called "Flat Teacher." The students received a package in the mail with a few learning materials and a letter with a Bitmoji of their teachers. They are to complete their work and do fun things while bringing the Bitmoji along for the adventure. Parents and students were so excited to receive their package in the mail. They were so thankful and overjoyed by the generosity. Students have already started sending us picture of themselves with the bitmoji. I have told them to continue sending pictures throughout the summer.

We will be continuing to use these learning materials for the remainder of the school year doing fun end of year projects. We plan to do a fun activity, remembering our school year together. We will also make cards for our families.

I wish you could have been in my classroom when the new supplies arrived! My students were so excited to see what was in the huge box. I opened the box and explained what the supplies would be used for. I told them we would use our ink to print learning materials and resources in color. I can print books for students on their reading level IN COLOR. I can also print materials for arts and crafts activities. We are able to make fun cards and projects for holidays throughout the year. These resources are helping my students access their reading content in a developmentally appropriate way.
Thank you so much for your interest and support. I truly appreciate your generosity. Thank you again for believing in us!”

I wish you could have been in my classroom when the new tablets arrived! My students were so excited to see what was in the box. I opened the box and explained what the tablets would be used for. I told them, we would use our tablets during reading and math center time. I can assign each student specific books to read as well as different lessons and skills to work on in math. These resources are helping my kindergarten students access their math and reading content in a developmentally appropriate way.
