Funded Nov 11, 2024I sincerely appreciate your contributions. Thanks to your kindness, my students now have access to supportive tools such as games and fidgets. The weighted sloth, affectionately named Jorge by the students, has become a favorite; students enjoy holding him when they feel sad, happy, or need to fulfill a sensory need.
The board games enable even my most reserved students to engage with their peers during counseling sessions. The fidgets are handy tools that my students can easily pick up and carry with them whenever they need to concentrate or keep their hands occupied.
Your generosity has helped create a nurturing environment where learning and emotional well-being go hand in hand. Thank you for making a tangible difference in the lives of our students.”

So Fresh and So Clean!
Funded Mar 6, 2017Thank you for empowering my students! Your donations have allowed me to create a safe place where students feel comfortable discussing and learning about their hygiene. In fact, this safe place has become very important for many of my female students as they prefer to ask me, rather than the male nurse, for sanitary products. Your contributions have also helped my students feel good about themselves. They now have constant access to products that are essential for their hygiene, but that their parents may not be able to replace immediately after they run out. You have helped my students in ways that you cannot even begin to fathom.”

Funded Dec 6, 2016My students are so delighted with their new library. The books have been great tools to use during my counseling sessions. The "Young Person's Occupational Outlook Handbook" has helped my students explore careers through guided individual and group lessons and "What On Earth Do You Do When Someone Dies?" has been especially helpful recently for a few students who have lost loved ones. These are just a couple of examples of these books have positively impacted my students and they will continue to do so for years to comes.
Thanks to you donations my students have read serval books for pleasure during independent reading time and at home that appeal to their interests and age group. My 6th grade boys love the "Diary Of A 6th Grade Ninja" series and my girls love the "Chicken Soup for the Soul" series. It is so exciting to see my students reading for pleasure!

Support An Urban School Counseling Program!

Thank you for your generous donations! Thanks to you, my students are more engaged during their counseling sessions and in turn, are meeting their socio-emotional goals.
Access to games such as the feeling cards, think twice jar and the conversation starters have given my students the opportunities to open up during their sessions while having fun. Along with the games, crafting has been a crucial part of our sessions. Both of these activities allow my students to put down their guards and focus on themselves- something that is critical in order for them to meet their personal and academic goals. The post-its and chart paper also make our sessions interactive and my girl groups created an inspirational bulletin board that encourages their peers to be positive and to believe in themselves.
Thank you- access to these materials have given my students the opportunity to participate in counseling sessions that are interactive, engaging and powerful.”

Technology Can Enhance Our School Counseling Program!

Thank you for your generous donations. Access the iPad and it's durable case has provided me with the opportunity to use technology in my counseling interventions. All of my students are motivated by technology and the iPad has allowed me to engage my students through applications that are meaningful, age appropriate and fun.
Mindfulness is an important component of my counseling style. There are several guided mediation applications that I use with my students at the beginning of our counseling sessions and when they're experiencing a crisis. These applications provide my students with tools they can use when they need to center their emotions. Along with guided mediation, many of my students use the mindful coloring applications when they need to calm down. The iPad also provides my students with access to instant information that makes our educational counseling sessions more interactive and self directed. The paper shredder has been critical in maintain personal information confidential.
My students and I are forever grateful for your gift of technology and words cannot describe the impact you have made in their counseling sessions!”

Funded Jan 4, 2015Thank you so much for the table tennis and badminton equipment. My students loved everything. The net was a big hit- especially since it is so easy to set up. Providing us with these resources made our club feel like a real one. Students now have the tools that they need to play either sport and do not need to take turns. They are having a blast! Now they can have multiple tournaments and they're even teaching each other how to play. It is wonderful to see such an collaborative group of children.
This club may not have a direct effect on my students' learning but it definitely helps in improving their academics across content areas by providing them with an extra-curricular activity that is both active and challenging. These students are exercising a lot more because of this club. Physical activity is very important and the equipment that you have provided us with has helped with this. Furthermore, my students have created great friendships and support systems within the club. Not to mention, participation in the club will look great on their college applications!
Thank you for giving my students the materials that they need for this club. It has truly had a positive effect on their lives both socially and academically.”
