Reward the Students!
Funded Sep 29, 2022This project is such a fun way to celebrate and create student ownership. We have been slowly integrating the machines into use. We used the popcorn machine yesterday with my 8th grade students. We were talking about showing our gratitude, they had previously written letters to teachers, but making popcorn midday for them. Teachers were delighted and students loved being able to do something kind for the teachers.
We plan to use the cotton candy machine and popcorn machine at our winter formal in a few weeks. Students are so excited to show off their personalities, and we are so excited to treat them.
The next incentive for students will be popcorn for their hardwork on the MAP test they take in just a few short weeks. We are so excited to have these items and put them to good use.”

Yearbook Needs a Camera
Funded Oct 27, 2022We introduced the dslr camera to students today during yearbook club. The students were so excited. We talked about ISO, aperture and shutter speed. Students then practiced taking the camera in and out of the case, auto focusing and taking a picture.
The next time we meet, the students are going to sign up for different events to start documenting. They are most excited about taking pictures during the winter formal and about taking the camera on our field trip to the movies at the beginning of November. We are eternally grateful for your continued support of yearbook and can't wait to see our final project.”

Read, Baby Read!
Funded Mar 9, 2015Our students were thrilled with the amazing books they received. As they opened the boxes, their eyes lit up and they instantly created lists of books they wanted to read. They were enthralled with the amount of choice they were given and the fact that others would give them this great gift.
The scholars are using the books everyday. They are able to check them out and trade them with other students when they are done. By giving these books some of the lowest reading students, are finding their reading niche.
The scholars on the lowest reading levels are using these books to help them become invested in reading. By finding their interest first, their skills will flourish. We want them to read even without us around and these books helped to spark their interest for the summer.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Sunderlin
