  • Heart Awareness!

    Funded Dec 1, 2021

My students were able to work in small groups to research and create posters for heart awareness. They also had the opportunity to participate in some exercises to learn and practice how to stay healthy. Students placed their poster around the school and had conversations with other students not in our group about taking care of their heart and staying healthy. We also passes the goodie bags with heathy snacks and water to students in the school.

The students were so happy to see the supplies donated by you. They could not believe people had send ALL those supplies. They were very eager to start the project.

My students and I are so grateful for your kindness.”

  • Run Germs Run!

    Funded Aug 30, 2019

Thank you so much for your kind donation. You are helping keep my classroom germ free with your donation to the "Run Germs Run!" project. My students were so happy when the supplies arrived that they helped bringing the boxes in and put all the supplies in the cabinet. What a joy to see. Their faces light up as I opened the boxes and showed them the supplies. Who knew cleaning supplies will bring such happiness to little kids.

My students are using the cleaning supplies and sanitizing supplies daily to maintain a happy and healthy environment. They all clean their desk and materials at the end of the day and after messy projects. I happily clean all surfaces on Friday afternoon with the wipes and disinfecting spray to make sure they didn't miss a spot. We have available the soap and paper napkins around the classroom, I have a student in charge to make sure it's always available. This job will be rotated to provide everyone an opportunity to help keep the class healthy. Students are more conscious of their environment and health. We are having more discussions about healthy practices at school and home. Students are being inspire to share what they are learning with their families.

I want you to know that the supplies will go a long way with my class. My students are happy and very much appreciate not getting sick and learning by attending school. You have made a great impact on the lives of these students. I thank you with all my heart.”

  • Empowering Students with Technology

    Funded Jul 31, 2019

The students in my classroom are mainly immigrants from kindergarten to 5th grade. Having a classroom with diverse academic and language levels, creating an experience for each student to work at their own pace and level is challenging. Technology is great because it offers students differentiated learning opportunities by reviewing material independently or in small group as necessary. This helps to increase student engagement, because their lessons are not too challenging or to easy.

Although, we have programs in place for the students to practice core areas subjects such as reading and mathematics, without enough devises for students to access these programs students are unable to benefit from them. The donation of the Chromebook through Donor's Choose has help me increased the minutes per week that my students can use these programs and consequently improve their skills.

I am so grateful to have this new Chromebook available to my students. This donation has been such a positive improvement for my students. I appreciate all the generous donors who helped make this possible.

You have no idea how much the computer you donated to our class has already help and will continue to help my students. They are so happy and thankful. They now can play educational games to enhance their English language and academic skills. They are learning so much thanks to you. I am so grateful for being able to show my students that there are people like YOU that care and that are willing to go the extra mile to help them.”

You will be so happy to know that this project was able to reach all of the students of the school in one way or another. The February American Heart Month, Fight for Your Heart! was a success. Students from all grades were invited to participate in different activities. First, a group of students participated in lessons to teach then how to have healthy hearts. Then, these students created posters with the supplies we received to promote heart health around the school. Lastly, on Valentine's Day students were invited to complete the Healthy Heart Challenge during lunch in the cafeteria. All students that participated were given a certificate of completion, and a goody bag with stickers, pencils and the delicious healthy snacks you so kindly provided. I thank you so much for giving me the tools to share with the students something that hopefully will stay with them for the rest of their lives. YOU are amazing!”
