Literacy for Our Little Learners!
Funded Nov 15, 2021The children have learned so much with these books and materials! They have learned new vocabulary words, colors, gained new experiences, letters, and developed their listening skills. In our classroom reading is a time of fun, a time of conversation and an invitation to creativity and explorations. The My Big World Scholastic has also been a great success by exposing children to explore non-fiction topics, at an age appropriate level. They have learned about insects, things that grow, safety and more! All of these topics are important for these very young learners. I am beyond grateful for the donors who helped support the foundation for building literacy in young children. Thank you so much!”

Funded Dec 29, 2020The children absolutely love the materials! The dotta art, markers, glue, paint, wiki sticks, and the art kits have been so useful. They have been especially useful in supporting families who are learning at home. Our current exploration of study is plants. With the art kits and dotta art, the children have created a beautiful a large mural full of plants and flowers.
My students have used the wiki sticks to create and to help develop their fine motor skills. They have made sunglasses, flowers, or anything that they choose to make. With the markers, the children love to draw at any given time of the day. We use the markers for free drawing or book making. The children also enjoy telling stories about what they drew in their picture.
The art center in our classroom of course so fun. When in this center, we discuss with the children the materials they use, how they used it, what colors they chose and so much more. This is so helpful to develop their language skills! We also utilize art to explore different themes. The use of all of the art materials also provides a fun, hands-on learning experience for the children.
Not only are the kids excited but the families tell me that they can't stop playing with the wiki sticks or any of the materials at home. Having access to these materials at home is helpful for families and children who are remote learning this year. Children can also utilize the materials online during live instruction with their peers or offline as well!
Our next steps are to continue to encourage the families and children to utilize these resources at home during remote learning days. The learning experience at home is not the same at school, however my hope is that through art children gain fun, memorable and hand-on experiences to guide their learning. We will also continue to use the materials to have art projects, such as collage making, art murals, and so much more.
I am forever grateful to the donors who helped our children get these materials to supplement and support their learning. This has really become a memorable experience for the kids and myself.”

Funded Jan 15, 2016Thank you all for your tremendous contributions! With the dot-a-art markers students have used them to create their own drawings and engage in letter based art activities. With the glue the students were finally able to make gak! The children were so excited to get messy and enjoy the process of making gak once again. When the students first saw the materials their faces gleamed with excitement! The dot-a-art was something new for them, and another medium to add to our art center. And to have play-dough was a complete joy for them. Currently we are exploring the theme of transportation. We have used the play-dough to make pretend train tracks or cars, and will use paint and glue to create airplanes, transform our dramatic play into a subway station and so much more. Thanks to all the contributors to this project. I am forever grateful!”
