  • Books, Resources, and Tools, Oh My!

    Funded Dec 31, 2022

We just wanted to thank you so much for for donating to our class project. It means so much to us that you want to help support our students learn and grow. The resources that we use in the classroom can sometimes be hard to come by. Finding materials that will meet the needs of all our learners takes time to find.

When we first brought up all the boxes with all of our books, our students were so excited to see what was in each box or package. Every time we opened a new one, our students grew even more excited. This projected allowed us to get some many new books at various reading levels .

Having access to Teachers Pay Teachers helped us find additional or supplemental materials that are fun, engaging, and student friendly. What is great about TPT is that they have so many resources that can be utilized both in the classroom and at home.

Once again thank you for your generous support!”

    With gratitude,

  • Supplies That Keep Our Learners Learning!

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

We just wanted to thank you so much for for donating to our class project. It means so much to us that you wanted to help our students learn and grow.

The resources that we use in the classroom can sometimes be hard to come by. Finding materials that will meet the needs of all our learners takes time to find. Having access to Teachers Pay Teachers helps us do that when we need additional or supplemental materials. TPT helps us find and access fun, engaging, and student friendly resources that can be utilized both in the classroom and at home. Having ink available in our classroom printer makes it super easy to quickly print a resource, tool or paper that we want to display or give to our students in the moment. Our students have really loved reading on our swivel rolling chairs. They get to use them as part of their flex seating options and when presenting a project at the front of the room if they choose too!

Once again thank you for your generous support!”

    With gratitude,

  • Classroom Makeover! New Materials Needed!

    Funded Apr 16, 2019

Thank you so much for contributing and helping to fund our class project. Even though it is only the beginning of the year, our students have already taken advantage of and are enjoying using our new resources.

Our new mobile dry erase board has been amazing. As it is a mobile board, we have already used it all around our classroom. Whether it be used during mini lessons, small group work, morning inspiration messages, or to model student thinking in math this board has come in handy. It just so happens the other day we had to move a small group out into the hallway because of the classroom voice volume, having this board on wheels made it so easy to quickly move the group and continue the activity. Students loved it! Our Cinema Light Box sits in the front of the room with a welcome note for the students to see each time they come to the carpet.

Our classroom this year is finally taking advantage of a reflection corner. This is a place where students can sit at the portable moving desk and reflect on their feelings. Students use the timer to set a designated time that they have to reflect on their feelings and then rejoin the group. So far its a hit and the perfect size. Our 5 tier plastic organizer is being used to keep math games for the current unit organized. Students are taught various games that pertain to the unit and can choose which one to use for math practice.”

  • Classroom Materials Need A Makeover!

    Funded Jun 3, 2019

Thank you for contributing in helping to fully fund our class project. These resources have helped to brighten our classroom. Our new book shelf has been used to display mentor texts and stories that have meaning to them. They also help shelf bins of materials.

The colorful neon caddies have brightened up each student group table. They have been designated with table numbers that have supplies that the students will need throughout the day such as pencils, scissors, glue, post-its, etc. They help to keep student materials neat and organized on their tables. The Neon caddies are being using for teacher small group materials. As some small groups can take place at any part of the classroom, having materials that are easily mobile and accessible to both teacher and students in the group has come in handy.

Student wobble cushions and lap desks are a huge hit! Students enjoy using them for flex seating during independent reading. Every week they get to rotate so they can all experience various seating options.

Our students are looking forward to playing our multiplication bingo and fraction games when the unit arrives. Pentaminoes have already been explored by some students in preparation for our area and perimeter unit later on in the year.

Thank you again. We all appreciate your generosity.”

  • Flexible Seating Choices? Yes Please!

    Funded Oct 15, 2018

Thank you so much for contributing to our classroom project. I can't even begin to express how excited are students are on a daily basis to uses all the various flexible seating options.

The stools are really helpful during independent work. It helps us move around the room and check in with each student. During independent reading, students get the opportunity to take a stool from our small group table and either sit their to read independently or pick another location within the classroom to read. All the fidget bands have really been helpful for our students who really have trouble remaining still in their chairs. Even when other teachers come into our room and sit, they too see how calming they are when bouncing their feet.

Another favorite are the wobble cushions and lap desks. The students love using them. It helps many of our students who have trouble remaining seated for long periods of time because it helps them wobble in a stationary location and get themselves centered. The students get to use lap desks with their partners for math activities or when they are sharing and peer editing a classmates writing. The day that each student is assigned their book shopping day, they get the opportunity to sit on the rug and read with a wobble cushion or lap desk.

From a teacher perspective, having the tennis balls on the bottom of each chair really does create a quieter working environment. Not having to hear each chair moving around, really is so calming. Thank you again for helping our students. We hope you continue to contribute to many of these amazing projects on this site.”

  • Let's Make the New School Year Amazing!

    Funded Sep 29, 2018

Thank you so much for contributing to our classroom project. When we first started this project, we prepared our students for the possibility that we might not get the project funded in the beginning of the school year. But thanks to all of you, it became a success. When our students saw all the boxes one morning, they were so excited to see all these new items for our classroom.

With the large amount of classroom books we had, our students enjoyed organizing our library into different categories and distributing them into their correct book bin. Our students are all amazing arts and love being able to use their creative minds and assorted crayons to bring their imaginations to life. The organizer cart helps up to prepare for each day by putting all the necessary worksheets and materials needed for that particular lesson. Math is a big part of our curriculum and several of the items in this project such as markers, crayons, address labels, and erasers have really helped our students become stronger mathematicians.

As the year continues to progress, our students are gaining more independence with the materials and location of each item in the room. They are constantly using all of these items and once again we wanted to thank you for your kindness and helping our classroom and our students.”

  • Amazing Work and Resources!

    Funded Aug 22, 2018

Thank you so much for contributing and helping to fund our classroom project. The beginning of our year has been full of providing our students with lots of materials to help support them in all academic subject areas.

The laminating machine and pouches have been very useful when it comes to showcasing all their hard work. We have used these materials to laminate resource tools for our students that help provide support during math. We also used these materials to create goal rings that help students keep track of their personal academic goals. The students use them throughout the day to provide support of ways they can keep track of their goals. Since we display unit goals and or important words, laminating them helps us to keep everything neat.

Having ink has allowed us to print out multiple resources as well as create publishing paper, or print reading passages to use daily. When we have ink for our printer, we are able to quickly print anything that we feel will help our students during class activities. Once again thank you for all that you have helped us provide for our students.”

  • Supplies That Keep Learners Learning

    Funded Jan 11, 2018

many times when we are working on a writing or math activity, and we feel that our students needed to have a copy of a problem or graphic organizer in front of them. There were also times when we felt a student needed a smaller version of an anchor chart in front of them, and was able to print/ make a copy of one for them to use during their independent work time

Our students really love playing math games. We have incorporated using dry-erase markers, where students get the opportunity to use the markers to shade in parts of a shape when learning about fractions or playing math bingo and putting X's in the boxes. Any time we take out the markers, our students have become more engaged in the activity.

The markers that we got have gone to creating amazing resource anchor charts that are up on display for our students to use throughout the day. They can look to them during independent work time or even during a mini-lesson.

We are so thankful for all these amazing materials that we have added to our classroom. Whether it be displaying their work on bulletin boards, playing games or using markers during activities, our classroom has displayed a more engaging environment. Thank you.”

  • Ink, Get'cha Ink

    Funded Jan 11, 2018

Thank you so much for helping to supply our classroom with ink for our classroom printer. There are many times when we are working on a writing or math activity, and we feel that our students needed to have a copy of a problem or graphic organizer in front of them. There were also times when we felt a student needed a smaller version of an anchor chart in front of them, and was able to print/ make a copy of one for them to use during their independent work time

Having the ink in our classroom has helped out a lot. We have been able to print resources, worksheets and math games. Not having to wait at our copy machine to make copies is really nice. We have been able to deliver materials at a faster rate. Even printing letters to parents.

Our students have benefited from having ink in our classroom printer because resources are delivered at a quicker rate. There are even times when they have been able to print a story that we are reading so they could have it in front of them. We are very thankful for our donors. Thank you for contributing to our classroom and our students.”

  • Read, Read, Read! Oh the Places You'll Go!

    Funded Dec 15, 2016

We had just begun our new unit on fiction stories when we received the books. Our students were beyond thrilled as some of the children had heard of these stories before while it was an opportunity for others to meet new characters. All of the fiction books were extremely helpful in reinforcing fiction story elements such as setting, plot, characters, problems, solutions, and so forth. Our students also enjoyed using these books to reinforce the skills of how a story map can be created from a book. Our students that are on a higher reading level specifically focused on their skills of predicting and inferring what might happen next in a story, how a character feels in a certain situation, and analyzing characters in a deeper way. On the other hand, students who are on lower reading levels were able to use pictures within books to help guide their reading, focusing on fluency and decoding unknown words.

Every day in our classroom, we have a reading workshop period lasting for 47 minutes. We start every reading workshop with a "mini-lesson" for 10-15 minutes in which we teach the students a specific strategy or skill, dependent on what our reading focus is for that unit (fiction, nonfiction, character studies, research clubs, biographies, etc.) Then for the remainder of the period students read independently from books that are in their book baggies. These books are books at their reading level as well as 1 or 2 challenging books at the next reading level. These books travel to and from school to help students continue practicing their reading at home and at school. While the students are reading independently in the classroom, they practice using the skills that they have learned from the mini lesson and incorporate it while they read. When students finish reading all the books in their book baggies, they can switch their books out for new ones from our classroom library!

As we are a special education classroom, many of our students' academic goals focus on improving their reading skills and progressing to a higher reading level. Although these students are third graders, the books that are appropriate for their reading level are often small books with only a few pages and a few lines per page. From our donation, we received chapter books that are appropriate for these students reading level. They are in love with these new chapter books and are greatly enjoying the feeling of holding a chapter book in their hands while they read. The children have been flying through these stories and can't wait to get their hands on the next book! All the Mercy Watson books especially have been a great hit!

We cannot express enough how much you're donation has impacted our classroom and our students' lives. We are extremely grateful and fortunate to have been a part of this amazing experience. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping our students fall in love with reading.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Stone

Our current classroom library consists of books that are very old with age and are ripped, torn and/or missing pages. We allow students to borrow books from our library to read in school as well as at home. We need these books so that we can not only accommodate a large variety of reading levels but to also make reading fun again! Reading is the foundation for a rich academic life. Without strong reading skills, students struggle in all other core subjects. Reading an enjoyable book allows readers to travel wherever their mind takes them. They can explore new worlds and take on any character's life. Please help us bring back this enjoyment to our students' lives.
