  • A Bookcase and Colored Bins for Kinders!!!!

    Funded Jan 23, 2025

Thank you for your generous donation in funding the project, " A Bookcase and Colored Bins for Kinders!!!". Our classroom's new bookcase has been an added benefit to our classroom because we now have a place to store our materials and copies. Space was lacking in the classroom, and this bookshelf added so much more space.

We do not have as much clutter in the classroom anymore because things are kept neatly and organized. Since it is the other size from the old bookcase, we have uniformity.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Stavros

  • Math Counters for a Kinder Classroom to Last a While!

    Funded Feb 16, 2025

Thank you for your generous donation to help fund this project, "Math Counters for a Kinder Classroom to Last a While". My class loves using the new counters because they are sturdy and durable.

We use it for counting, and we also use it for when we do our simple addition and subtraction. The counters have the students as they are working on their simple mathematical equations. They are counting with the counters and separating the two numbers for addition.

I know these counters will last a very long time in the class.”

  • Teachers Pay Teachers Gift Cards to Supplement Super Students Learning!

    Funded Jan 9, 2025

Thank you for funding this proposal. I have purchased many decodable books I will create so my students can use them in the classroom. I purchase non-fiction and fiction decodable books. I also purchase CVC books, that have activities that the class can do after they have read the book.

I am now in the process of making all of these books. It is a very time-consuming task but I know that it will benefit my students. I love how the decables that I have purchased are endless and I can tailor the readers to what my students need.

My class has a couple of these books they have been reading in their book baggies already.

Again thank you very much for your generosity.”

  • Kinders are Popping in Phonics!

    Funded Apr 16, 2024

Thank you for funding this proposal. My students were popping away the letter sounds and creating cvc words.

For example, I would say the word ran. Then they would pop out each sound that they heard in that word. It was a fun way to distinguish the sounds that they heard.

I had enough of these poppers for every student to use by themselves and then some extras put aside for group work. Since I got these in the middle of the year, I can not wait to start in the beginning of the school year so the students do not think that they are some kind of figit toy.”

  • Organize Ourselves with Utility Carts and Plastic Boxes!

    Funded Apr 16, 2024

Thank you so much for funding this proposal and helping organize our classroom.

I have so many of these little boxes, that I am in the process of making task cards and activities. This will take me a while because the materials have to be printed, laminated, and cut.

I started using the boxes to store the math materials that we are using for this unit. I like how everything can stack up on each other.

I have not put together the utility carts yet, since we are so close to the school year ending, that storing them with be an issue. I intend to assemble them right when school starts so they can be brand new and organized when the new bunch of students comes.”

    With gratitude,

  • Voice Recording Buttons for Curious Kinders!

    Funded Apr 16, 2024

Thank you so much for funding this proposal. I started to create some buttons for the kids to use now in centers.

In the future, I intend to create more based on each letter of the alphabet. They will hear the sound and the letter. It will be like having their teacher with them practicing the correct letter sound.

These will also be used for directions in a center. Students can not read task cards in the beginning of the year. They will be able to listen to the directions and know how to use a center.”

    With gratitude,

I teach kindergarten to English Language Learners in a NYC school. My students are the most creative bunch of kids you will ever met. They don't have much but they know when they come into my classroom they have the world. Puppets, play-dough, Lego's, building kits, story kits, listening center. etc. My classroom is a five year olds dream thanks all to DonorChoose. Every time I write a proposal, I think about, how it will benefit my students? What will they learn from it? How they think they are playing with a certain game or puzzle, when it fact they are learning. It never seams to amaze me when I see students using the materials and learning from them. I think that is the best way to teach my students. They have fun in the process. How many times, has a student said to me, can we play now? I tell them you are not playing, you are learning. Then I get the HUH stare. That is what it is all about!!!!!!!!!!!!
