  • Clear DeClutter!

    Funded May 5, 2020

During my tenure at Miami Arts Charter, I have met the most caring, loving, active, and supportive parents in all of my career as a teacher. Words cannot describe what you, parents, have done for me. Your donations have motivated me to work harder and become a better teacher. I would spend hours into the night researching fun and exciting assignments that aligned with the pacing guide.

It was very challenging to work in a cluttered environment where I had no place to store the computers and the computer cart came in handy.

When we returned from the pandemic, the students were able to retrieve the computers from the cart and prior to the end of class, they returned them in order. The students appreciated how organized my classroom was and they constantly complimented the decor.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. St. Georges

You made my week! I just opened the mail and found that we are FULLY FUNDED! Your support means so much- not only your child will benefit, but ALL of my students!

Many of my students do not have access to the internet or computers at home. My goal is to make sure no student is left behind when it comes to learning digital literacy skills. Thanks to contributions like yours, they will be able to learn these skills!

Thank you! You truly have made a difference!”

  • Digital Literacy, Podcasts, Google Apps Oh My!

    Funded Oct 3, 2018

The impact of having computers in our classroom has been overwhelming and amazing! The students were amazed that they were given awesome opportunities to access information online while in class. Many of my students do not have access to computers at home nor data on their cellphones. The students have been using the laptops to write and edit essays, create PowerPoint presentations, collaborate in group projects and completing their assignments online.

Having access to computers in class has encouraged me to try new projects with my students and explore online programs that will help them become better readers and writers. From the bottom of my heart I thank Chevron for their generosity and continued support!"”

  • Put the Lit in (Digital) LITeracy

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you so much for your generous contributions! The computers we received were used to improve my students' typing, research, reading and writing skills. As a result, it is with great pleasure to announce that our school's grade improved from a "B" to now an "A" school! My students performed well above the school district's passing score and I know that the computers provided opportunities for them to access these online programs- resulting in significant learning gains! Again, thank you for your donations!”

  • Kids Can Tweet, But Can They Spreadsheet?

    Funded Oct 23, 2017

Thank you so much for your generous donation!

Many of our students do not have access to any electronic devices at home and in school. It is important that 21st century learners are able to access and develop skills to keep up with today's technology.

They are learning how to create presentations like PowerPoint, Prezi, Powtoons, and emaze. Once complete, they would present their assignments to the class. The much needed laptops are helping my students to complete their assignments and submitting them via email as attachments. Students will also learn email etiquette when communicating with an adult.

My students are aware that next year, their standardized tests will be computer-based. As a result, they are taking the opportunity to access online typing courses to enhance their typing speed and accuracy (on a keyboard). In addition, they are able to access online learning tools to improve their reading and writing skills. The Chromebooks are being used in our classroom every day.

Again, thank you for all that you do!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. St. Georges

  • Unplugged...In 2016!

    Funded Feb 13, 2017

Thank you so much for your generous contributions! Most of my students who do not have access to computers and printers at home were able to type their essays and research papers in class, during 7th period, and after school. With our new printer and projector, they were able to print their work and create presentations on PowerPoint.

The much needed resources allowed our students to access and complete online assignments, learn how to search for and cite reliable sources properly.

Your contributions have helped my students to learn and thrive in a digital society which is a key role for universities and colleges! Again thank you so much for you continued support!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. St. Georges

Our school embraces creativity and encourages our students to express their unique talents. Unfortunately, our school lacks the resources to provide each class with a class set of computers. Unfortunately, over time, the Chromebooks I was able to receive through donations have had keys fall off, students accidentally dropping them which caused permanent damage to 5 of our Chromebooks. This is why I am requesting these new ones. With the Chromebooks, my students will be able to access online educational tools, research information, read about current events, conduct research online, and create awesome presentations.
