  • Snackn’ Lounge

    Funded Oct 12, 2022

My students were in awe of your generosity. As the projects were delivered to my classroom I heard phrases like "They got this for us?" and "It's like Christmas in October!" During our independent work time in ELA and Social Studies students are welcome to grab a snack of the choice. Brain breaks are essential when having to complete assignments in all of their classes so my students were very pleased to know that donors like you helped supply them with snacks. They were extremely appreciative of all their gifts and was equally excited about completing their assignments with a new found burst of energy.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Speights

  • Long Live the Laundry

    Funded Nov 24, 2018

Thank you soooooo much for your contribution! This couldn't have come at a better time! As we enter the Holiday Season I am so thankful for not only your generous gifts but for your encouraging words and continued support. This project means so much to me because it focus on the social emotional well being of a child, in addition to their academic performance. My students and I will never forget what you have made possible for us. Thank You from the bottom of my heart!”

  • Cutting into STEM with a Cricut

    Funded Aug 21, 2018

Once again thank you all for your contributions. We are absolutely in love with our Cricut and we can't wait to create more STEM projects. For our annual Halloween bulletin board contest we used the Cricut to design unique spider webs. We typed up our narrative stories and converted them into QR codes using our personalized Ipads. Everyone who visited our school was able to scan the code and check out the published version of our narratives. I'm excited to let you know that we came in second place (we lost to Pre-K) and we are thrilled to see what else we can design with our Cricut.

None of this would be possible without your kind heart and generosity. Thank you for continuing to support our classroom!”

    With gratitude,

  • Literacy Lounge

    Funded Jul 25, 2018

Words cannot express how happy my students are to have a comfy, cozy place in the classroom to read. On the first day of school when the students walked in the classroom, their faces were filled with such joy. They were so in love with the couches and stools we could barely keep them out of the lounge.

When we have our book clubs my students are overjoyed to read as a group in the literacy lounge so much that my co teacher and I had to create a rotating schedule. Sometimes during independent reading time we dim the lights and use the string lights all around the room to get us in the "mood" to read. My students even found ways to sneak in the lounge when they want quiet work space for math and other subjects! The body pillows, stools, rugs, couches along with all the other items have really helped my co teacher and I encourage my students have a love for reading as as a teacher, I honestly couldn't ask for more. Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Speights

Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times, they choose a location in the classroom that works for them. Currently, my students are choosing to work in a variety of locations in our room such as at different tables, sitting under tables with clip boards or sitting or laying on the floor with a clip board. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. They almost always make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk. My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where to work. The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The wobble stools are adjustable and will allow students to sit at desk/higher tables but will still allow some movement. These will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to get the wiggles out. They can also be used as an alternative chair if needed! The comfy floor seats and the beanbag chair will allow for additional comfortable floor seating options. They are lightweight and can be easily used in many areas of the classroom. I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work and demeanor and hope that the additional options will help us grow even more!
