  • Snacks For After School Learning

    Funded Jan 24, 2025

I cannot begin to express how thankful I am! We are halfway through our afterschool program and I was already worried because our snacks were running low.

Now I can tell my students that their community is here to support their wellbeing and their learning!

Thank you for supporting my students and classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Martinez

  • Creating a Functional Dry Erase Board

    Funded Sep 24, 2024

Thank you for helping us transform our classroom. At the beginning of the school year my co-teacher and I were thrilled to find out that we finally had a small classroom to welcome our English language Learners.

There was just one problem, the room was out of date! We only had a few bookshelves and a giant chalk board. We couldn't even find chalk to write with.

As the year progressed we bought our own small whiteboard but it was not big enough.

Thats when you and the community came together to help us get whiteboard contact paper. With this material we were able to turn our chalkboard into a functioning modern whiteboard!

Now my students and I have all the space to write, draw diagrams and so much more!!!! Thank you for all that you've done for us!”

  • Library Storage for English Language Learners

    Funded Sep 24, 2024

Thank you so much for helping my students and I get our class library organized. With your help we were able to get clear storage bins to sort independent reading books. I was also able to create labels in Spanish so my students would know where to return their books.

We were also able to get colored storage bins. These beens are being used to sort read aloud books and mentor texts by grade. That way I can stay organized! Acrylic book stand also came in this order. We use these stands to display our favorite read aloud books and other fun books that fit with the unit.

It was thanks to all your donations that my classroom and students can stay organized.”

  • Bulletin Board Materials for English Language Learners

    Funded Sep 26, 2024

Thank you for your kindness and support! With your help not only was I able to create a bulletin board for my English language learners to show off their work, but I was able help them become more confident writers!

Using the adhesive hooks I was able to hang up the transparent pockets so that I would be able to change the student work every month. Once my students saw their work they were beaming with joy. This also motivated other students to do their best so that they can finish and have their work displayed.

I am also happy to say that once the admin at my school saw the quality of work my students were producing, they offered to give me a bulletin board! I was so happy and even more excited because since I work with multiple graces, I now had two places to show off their work.

Thank you so much for helping me give my students the confidence to become better writers!”

  • Our New Room Needs a Printer!

    Funded Sep 9, 2024

Thank you so much for your generosity. With your help, my co teacher and I, were able to get a color printer that is eco friendly for our classroom.

With the addition of this new printer we are now able to print worksheets for our daily lessons without having to wait in line to make copies. We are also able to print anchor charts and other visuals in color that our students are able to use to help them complete heir classwork.

This printer has drastically improved our teaching because we have the liberty to print what our students need, when they need it, without having to leave our classroom and make copies in the office. It has certainly made our job a little bit easier.”

  • Snacks for the New School Year

    Funded Sep 4, 2024

Thank you for coming together to provide my students with healthy and filling snacks. The majority of my students live in temporary housing and often come to school hungry. The snacks that were purchased are being used to fill their tummies so that they can be ready to learn.

I have also been able to use these snacks to celebrate our learning growths and accomplishments. At the end of a unit all students get a snack because they were able to finish their stories, project or essay.

Thank you again for showing my class love and support!”

  • Ink for Summer Fun

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

Thank you so much for the wonderful support in helping make this project a reality. With your help my class received printer ink for our smart tank eco printer. Just one bottle is able to print hundreds of pages! Having access to a printer and ink is essential as an English as a new language teacher because I create my own worksheets, flashcards, visuals and more.

With your help I was able to make fun and engaging phonics, writing and reading packets for my 65 English language learners! That means that we will have activities to do all year long!”

  • Cool Room for Cool Learners

    Funded Aug 1, 2024

Thank you so much for helping us reach our goal! We were able to get this project funded just in time for the beginning of the new school year. During the summer months and early fall our room gets really hot! So much so that we have to keep doors open to let a draft in and use loud fans to circulate the air. But now that we have our new silent fans we are able to have a better learning experience.

My students were so excited to see the new standing fans. They were especially surprised at how quiet they are and happy to no longer need to yell over the noisy box fans we had. The fans are also lightweight so it's easy to move them around the room especially since students work at tables and on the carpet.

Thank you again for helping us create a comfortable and cool classroom!”

  • Literacy Manipulatives for Newcomers!

    Funded Apr 23, 2024

    Thank you for your generosity!

The materials you helped us purchase have greatly improved my students learning.

One student in particular was having a hard time segmenting the sounds in English words. A skill that is vital if they are to move into decoding words. I was able to use the Spanish syllable flip books to help them segment sounds in Spanish. This helped them understand the skill, which they were able to start to do with English words.

My 2nd graders were able to use the magnetic white boards to also segment sounds and write the word. They loved this activity so much that they play I as a game. They take turns choosing a picture. They will ask me to say the word and they race to figure it out. These boards are great because they are able to show each other their answers as it has helped them get over the fear of being wrong.

Thank you for all your help! These materials have really helped my students grow as English Language Learners.”

  • Newcomer Bilingual Authors

    Funded Apr 19, 2024

Thank you so much for your support! With your help I was able to create a fun and engaging unit for my English Language Learners! I cannot begin to explain the joy my students expressed as they choose their topic, researched then began to write.

I gave students the option of writing a non fiction book teaching us about a topic or a fiction piece that would teach us a lesson. My students took these guidelines and ran with them!

One student wrote about animal predators, teaching us all about what makes lions, wolves and sharks cool and dangerous. Other students choose to teach us about their home country! Once they were done, they were so excited and proud to share their work with each other.

Without your help I wouldn't have been able to unlock this creative and informative side of my students. Thank you so much!!”

I am the only English as a New Language teacher at my school. I often push into a classroom or pull them out into a small group. So our "classroom" is always changing which means we stay flexible. In the past few years we have seen our ELL population explode! Now I have about 60 ELL students who have come from all across the world like Venezuela, China and Kazakhstan. My students are resilient young boys and girls who are eager to learn English and learn about their new home.
