We may all be different, but in the class we grow together! We are expanding to an indoor classroom garden to promote growth and maturity within not only our plants, but within ourselves. We are all capable of growing and being rooted in our education. Gardening will be the introduction to life science as we learn about plant life cycle, photosynthesis, and so much more! With these materials, it would so helpful to get a hands-on experience with nature right here in our classroom! Some of the lessons that will come from this project is social emotional learning and connect the plant to themselves and relate to them that they need certain things to live and survive just as a plant does. They'd also learn community service and how planting a garden can do so much good and give a positive light to their community, not to mention it would be the perfect fit to tie in with our newest S.T.E.M. curriculum and truly shine a light on all components of STEM and even including Art with STEAM. This gardening project can open so many doors to education, it is only the beginning. A follow up project would be to have a butterfly nursery which now introduces a bug unit. Or take it a different route and discuss how a garden gives fresh produce and now tying in Health and Fitness lessons. The possibilities are endless! We just need your help to help our minds grow!
