  • PROSE, POETRY, PLANTS, PENCILS AND PAPER

    Funded Jul 20, 2005

I let out a yelp when I opened my email this morning and saw that you funded the field trip to take my students to the NY Botanical Garden. Thank you so much for your generosity. It makes me so glad to know that my kids will be able to get out of the city for a day to enjoy nature and beautiful things. Since I know I'm inspired to write in nature, I hope they will be too. I look forward to sharing some of their writing with you after we take the trip.

Again, thank you so much for being gracious and funding this experience. It makes me feel so good to know that there are people out there who care about kids' education as much as you do.

    Kind regards,

    Ms. ”

  • George Washington Stood Here!

    Funded Jul 1, 2005

Independence Day is coming up this weekend. Therefore, I decided it might be nice for me to plan a trip to Fraunces Tavern in New York City to check it out just in case my proposal, "George Washington Stood Here" got funded. Therefore, I was so excited to learn, when I opened my email this morning, that my proposal to take my class to Fraunces Tavern had been funded. Hooray!

Thank you so much for your generous donation. I know this trip will be a wonderful learning experience for my students this fall. I cannot wait to share photos from the trip with you after we go.

Have a wonderful summer. You'll be hearing from me later this year.

    Kind regards,

    Ms. ”

  • Inner Peace (and Fitness) in East Harlem

    Funded Jun 23, 2005

Wow. I never thought my proposal to bring yoga to my students would get funded. Therefore, when I saw the email that my proposal, "Inner Peace (and Fitness) in East Harlem" got funded today, I had to look at the e-mail from Donorschoose twice since I was in disbelief that my dream to bring yoga to my students had finally come true.

Thank you for being kind enough to donate the funds to make this program possible for my students. I have already started to meet some of the kids who will be in my class during the 2005-2006 school year. They're a very similar bunch to the students I had this year. Therefore, I know that they will benefit from having yoga introduced into their lives.

There's only three days left to this school year. Therefore, it will take a few months to have this program implemented. Once we have our first yoga class, I promise that you will see some photos of the kids engaged in the activities. I know they will benefit from this experience and I cannot wait to share that with you in the fall.

Again, thank you for your generosity. It means so much to me and I know it will impact my future students in only the most positive ways.

    Kind regards,

    Ms. ”

  • Bridges and Boundaries: African Americans and American Jews

    Funded May 3, 2005

You are so generous! Thank you for your donation. I am always touched when random people I do not know fund a proposal. Your generosity astounds me and makes me so thankful.

I have already started to plan pre-trip lessons to get my students ready for their morning at the Jewish Museum. The date is set. I know that having this trip funded will make it possible for all of my students to attend since there is definitely a financial hardship amongst my class.

A more formal thank you note will follow after our trip, but, for now, I hope this e-mail will suffice. I appreciate your kindness and your generosity so that I can make this trip a reality for my students.

    Kind regards,

    Ms. ”

  • Special Delivery with a Mailbox Organizer

    Funded Apr 1, 2005

Thank you so much for funding the mailbox organizer for my classroom! This resource is desperately needed in my classroom. My students are constantly struggling with their organizational skills and I know this will help. I cannot wait for the mailbox organizer to arrive. My kids and I will send you a note as soon as we get it.

    Kind regards,

  • Farm Fresh Food

    Funded Feb 11, 2005

I check my e-mail at the end of the school day and was so excited to see that my proposal, Farm Fresh Food, was fully funded today. Thank you so much for your generosity towards my class.

As I explained in my proposal, my students are craving to experience new types of fruits and vegetables (Today they saw me eating a seckel pear and were extremely intrigued since it's so tiny!), so I am looking forward to taking them to Union Square Farmer's Market this spring so they may buy and taste new kinds of fruits and vegetables. Perhaps this trip will lead to them reaching for fruit, instead of chips, after school.

I look forward to sharing photos from our field trip with you. We will go on our trip after they take the NYC Standardized Tests this April. I can't wait!

    Kind regards,
