  • Success During Distance Learning

    Funded Sep 11, 2020

During COVID-19 Pandemic we have all leaned on technology to keep us connected. During distance learning educator, students, and staff have used technology to also to keep us connect in our school community.

What I am most excited about providing the wireless, noise canceling headphones for students is they are more focused at home during learning time. I saw a big difference in their focus and attention after receiving the headphones.

My students were so excited to get their hands on the headphones and are continuing to use them. They love them! The students that have most benefited are my students with a disability in attention or with ADHD, they have mentioned that the noise distractions at home have lessened when using their new headphones.

Thank you again for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Shintaku

  • Get Comfy in Flexible Seating

    Funded Jan 1, 2019

My students were so excited to receive the wobble chairs and bean bags . When they saw them for the first time in the classroom they all wanted to try them out. They could not wait until it was their turn to try. Over the past several months students have loved using them. During class they are able to "get their wiggles out" and "stay focused" on their tasks. Then bean bags are used to create a quite space in my class room.

Many of my students need a quite space to decompress and then go back to class if, they are having a difficult time due to their emotions in other classes. The bean bags have been an asset, students use the quite space to journal or listen to music in order to decompress and go back to class ready to work.

Thank you all for donating to my project and giving my students the resources they need to be successful in school.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Shintaku

I am requesting 1 charge cart to charge computers daily to obtain 21st century skills to be successful. Having the computer charge cart will allow for different structures of learning in my classroom with fully charged computers. 1 way they will be used is as a STEAM center. Students can look up pictures, and how to build and design their own robots out of Legos and mechanical parts. Another way they will be used is by recording the results of an experiment. Recently, we investigated how the size of bubbles vary with soap and various liquids. Students could take pictures of their results at different time intervals and record observations through notes. They could collaborate on group findings by sharing through the cloud. I could download apps for various math practice skills for a math center, which would allow me to have activities for both my highest performing and most struggling students. All of these project
