  • Let's Make Art!

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

Thank you so much for your generosity!

My students were thrilled when they saw the art supplies and were very excited to use them. The first project we did using the art supplies was to do a study of Native American totem poles. It tied in with our Social Studies unit and Native American Heritage month was also in November. During our weekly art club time, we watched videos and studied pictures of totem poles from different tribes.

We were inspired to create our own totem poles that represented our identity. We first drew a sketch using the pencils and sketchbooks you have provided for us. Next, we used the Crayola Model Magic clay to sculpt our totem pole symbols. Finally, we used the paint to paint our creations. My students were most excited about the painting. Many of them have never used paintbrushes and paint, and it was exciting to watch them mix the colors and try them out.

My students really liked sculpting and painting, so our next project will be a study of Georgia O'Keefe and we will sculpt some of her famous flower portraits for the spring. We have enough supplies for this next big project and we are so grateful for this amazing opportunity you have given us!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. S.

  • Keeping Things Organized!

    Funded Jan 5, 2022

Thank you for giving my students a chance to work and be able to return to some normalcy at school this year. My students have been working hard understanding open ended math tasks in mathematics and learning to write research paragraphs and essays in ELA. With your kind donations, the kids have been able to collect their work throughout these months and it makes them feel proud to see their work progress as they look through their binders. The students have also worked on organizing their binders and it has certainly helped them with caring for their work and becoming more independent. I cannot thank you enough for helping my students get organized and feel proud of their progress! My students and I wish you much joy and happiness, just as you have brought for us through Donors Choose.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. S.
