"In Diversity There Is Beauty and There Is Strength"
Funded Dec 25, 2020We appreciate your support in our diversity project! You have helped us have a new avenue to reach students and teach them more about empathy, working with others, and acceptance!
Our Title 1 Reading class is a place that struggling readers can come to hone their skills, learn a love of reading, and interact with language in a new and exciting way. I have found that by using authentic literature, my students are more engaged, and have more of a desire to participate.
I plan to include these sets of diverse books for them to read and enjoy as we study theme, main idea, language and vocabulary, and compare and contrast the content to their own lives.
As Stephen R. Covey stated, "Strength lies in differences, not in similarities". I will use these book sets to help my students have an avenue to relate to others, and see the beauty in their differences. We will also use the children's books of poetry to help my students with rhythm, rhyme, and verse in an upcoming poetry project.”

These resources from Teachers Pay Teachers will be able to be used by my students no matter if we are in our classroom or e-learning at home.
I have purchased digital leveled reading passages, boom card activities, vocabulary skills practices and more!
Everything that I purchased on Teachers Pay Teachers is digital. The materials will work in both synchronous and asynchronous learning environments. I want to give my students everything they will need to be successful and learn in an engaging way! Thank you again!”

Funded Oct 22, 2020We are excited to begin our unit on the Revolutionary War. In addition to reading a class novel, we added small group lessons with the graphic novel Paul Revere's Ride. My students are far more engaged when they are reading and enjoying graphic novels. This book tells the story of Paul Revere's ride to Lexington in April 1775 to warn colonists in Massachusetts of approaching British troops. It is Written in graphic-novel format.
We are also using the picture book The End in our sequencing unit.
This wacky original fairy tale traces the courtship of a handsome knight and a beautiful princess . . . backwards! We have a sequencing game that we will play together after reading the book. We also need the colored pens to help us create the game cards.
Thank you for helping us create a fun and engaging learning opportunity!”

Funded Sep 17, 2020We are so excited to start this project! We will use these in our Title 1 Reading program to practice reading concepts and skills, but will also use them as a civics lesson to help us learn about our country's past.
On August 28, 1963, more than 200,000 people gathered in Washington, DC, to demand equal rights for all races. It was there that Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech, and it was this peaceful protest that spurred the momentous civil rights laws of the mid-1960s.
It is important for our students to use lessons from the past to help them create a better future. Working through this book, they will be able to gain some insight into what life was like then, and the changes that have occurred through American history. They will also be able to have discussions comparing and contrasting life today to life in the mid-1960s. There's never been a better time to get kids involved and light a spark of awareness.
Thank you for helping us with our project, and helping our students have a better understanding of our country's history.”

Funded Aug 24, 2020We appreciate you so much! You have helped us provide our students and assistant teachers a way to work together during virtual teaching. We had tried a few other headphones, but we soon found that we needed ones with microphones and better sound. These are perfect! We are now able to hear each other while we work on our lessons!
Having a set of headphones is allowing my students and assistant Title I teachers to be more productive in our virtual learning situations. They needed the security of knowing that they can hear and be heard as they participate in our lessons. Some of our Chromebooks are very difficult to hear, and these headphones are enabling my assistant teachers and students to be able to interact with each other more effectively.
Nothing is more frustrating than not knowing what is going on! My students are already dealing with the emotional turmoil of returning to class amid the fears of contracting the virus. These tools will help them feel more secure and capable as they enter the world of digital lessons. Alleviating the concerns of not being able to hear the teacher will help them be more focused on what they are learning.
The students are using the headphones while working on the programs on Google Classroom, our Google Site, during our ZOOM meetings, and when reading and listening to digital books.
These headphones will enhance their overall learning experience and make learning more fun!”

We Need Ink to Help Us Think!
Funded Aug 11, 2020In our Title I reading classroom we do daily hands on activities to reinforce reading skills. My students have truly missed having these learning opportunities. I plan to use the Epson color printer ink to create color task cards for learning games, reading board games, and color workstation activities that I can share with my students. We need to spice up our learning! My goal is to help each student become engaged in reading and writing and inspire them to continue long after they have left my classroom! During this time of distance learning, my students will be excited to use the new games and materials that I can create with the Epson Workforce Pro color printer ink. Thank you for your generosity! You've made a real difference in our classroom!”

Funded Jul 21, 2020I want to thank you for supporting our classroom! With the changes COVID has made in education, my students will be returning to an entirely different environment this year. Even before the pandemic, many would arrive at class hungry, making learning even more difficult. I know that many struggle at home with hungry tummies as well. But, they all work hard and give it their best. These yummy, healthy snacks will be distributed in their supply bags, whether to use in class, or to take home and enjoy during distance learning. This will help alleviate a little bit of the stress that comes with working remotely, or arriving to class hungry. My students will be thrilled to receive the beef jerky, beef sticks, Terra chips, Veggie chips, Jolly Ranchers, and Pirate's Booty snacks! We will use the cleaning spray to make sure their area is clean when they have their snacks, and to clean the take home goody bags we will use during distance learning. We appreciate your generosity! You have made a real difference in our classroom!”

Funded Jul 23, 2020You have helped our classroom become a safer place for our students! Being a Title 1 reading classroom, we do not receive class supplies so this will ensure that when these students arrive in my classroom, they will not have the stress and worry that they will be infected by using community supplies. Now, each student will have the confidence that not only will they have the supplies they need to be successful, but that they are clean and safe to use. We focus on social emotional learning and ensuring that our students have the support they need to be successful. These personal bags of supplies with crayons and dry erase markers will be very helpful as they work in our classroom as well as at home. These supplies will enable them to shift the focus from fear to learning.
Thank you again for your support!”

Funded May 28, 2020Thank you so much for supporting our project! In our Title 1 classroom we work daily on improving our basic reading skills. Many of my students struggle when decoding words and these new activity books will be very helpful tools as we work one on one together. Building better reading skills will help them build self confidence and self esteem. The Orton Gillingham Dyslexia Reading Program is research based and proven to help these struggling readers. The program includes a phonics reference chart, flash cards, and an associated website with coinciding reading games. Thank you again for helping my students!”
