  • iPad for Financial Literacy

    Funded May 1, 2014

It has been exciting to have access to the latest technology tool in our classroom. The students have excitedly embraced the iPad and created a mock business to learn important financial literacy lessons. Our neighborhood is in a spiral of debt that is evident almost everyday in the faces of our students. My hope is to continue to fund projects that will assist students in learning about making sound financial decisions. Even at their age, money can be earned, saved, and invested. That will turn the tide towards future financial independence.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Shabani

This classroom project was brought to life by PwC and 3 other donors.
  • Technology, Exercise, And The Art Of Dance

    Funded Mar 8, 2014

As a veteran teacher, I want to always think that I have a solution for every educational challenge that I face. Sometimes its as simple as speaking to a colleague or reading professional literature. In this case, my challenge was to get my students up off their chairs and moving. I can't believe how well this technology has worked. It is a simple video game setup to some people and all it appears to promote is fun. I disagree wholeheartedly because it has made our experience with physical education into a regular routine. Who knew dance could be so powerful for kids. I thank you for allowing the opportunity to bring this new medium of expression and exercise into my classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Shabani

  • The Future is Math and Science

    Funded Jun 11, 2013

The subject of financial literacy has certainly come alive in my classroom since the arrival of our new projector. I have been able to communicate my lessons with ease and had a captive audience of students interacting with the whiteboard projections at all times. In our poor neighborhood, these tools are scarce and very valuable. Thank you very much for the generous donations that made this new style of learning possible in my inner city school. The students will be on their way to a successful financial future thanks to you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Shabani

  • iPad For Financial Literacy

    Funded Sep 6, 2013

I can't fully express my joy, excitement, and thanks for your donation to my project. It is great to see that you share my vision for reaching children. Technology is a crucial part of the world we live in, and I am honored that you chose to support my project. Thank you again for your generous donation and your interest in my classroom. Without people like you, getting new technology into my students' hands would be next to impossible. My students and I are forever grateful that you believe in us.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Shabani

  • Exploring Diversity Through Technology 2

    Funded Apr 9, 2013

Thank you so very much for your generous donation to our classroom. The two iPad minis that you helped us purchase are already being put to great use! The students were thrilled to get these materials and are so thankful for the opportunity to use them.

We have already started our research of prominent civil rights leaders and have begun creating presentations to understand their impact on present day society. The students are eager to get as much time as possible using this technology and have even asked to come in from recess to continue their work.

I hope you realize the positive impact your generosity has had on the students in my classroom and that it will continue to have on the students I work with in the future!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Shabani

  • Bullying Must Go!

    Funded Nov 13, 2012

Thank you so much for your generous donation. This gift has allowed my students to access all kinds of books that we do not have in our school library. My students have become more avid readers. They have also been supported in their literacy skills by having access to the various applications that support learning. Students have also been able to perform research at their finger tips by using this incredible Nexus tablet. Thank you again for your commitment to bringing resources into public classrooms.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Shabani

  • Picture a School With No Bullying

    Funded Oct 10, 2012

It is incredible to have donors such as yourselves who believe in inner city schools and students. I am humbled and grateful that I am able to bring this great publication, "Bullying in Schools" into my classroom to teach character education. Our current choices to teach anti-bullying are outdated and difficult to relate to for the kids.

The cameras have been a very useful tool in capturing the respect, friendship, and cooperation that is often overlooked. It is important to shift our thinking towards the positive and not the negative.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Shabani

  • Laptops for Financial Literacy

    Funded Aug 27, 2012

I wish to offer thanks for the wonderful generosity that funded this project. My students have been fully engaged with the laptops in increasing their financial literacy. We have used some great software called the Allowance Game which has allowed them to manage budgets and savings in a realistic investment scenario. The software also gives my students the opportunity to run a mock business and handle expenditures and payroll situations. None of this would be possible without the laptops. Thank you from a very grateful group of learners.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Shabani

This classroom project was brought to life by Tony and Nanar Yoseloff and one other donor.
My students, like kids all over the world, are in love with technology! They are energetic and enthusiastic learners when given the right learning tools to maintain their motivation. They possess a wide range of reading abilities and need to go beyond reading "easy" books. My school is a Title 1 campus with high poverty and limited access to cool new devices such as the Kindle. I can already see the excitement in their eyes as I introduce them to a new way of learning.
