  • Flexible Seating & Fantastic Incentives

    Funded Oct 18, 2023

Thank you so much for the donations you have made to my classroom over the years! This last project was one of my favorites. The supplies that were donated brought so much joy to my scholars!

Each day, if a student shows respect, responsibility and kindess they are considered a "Super Student" for that day and get to pick from the prize bucket. Your donations allowed me to purchase various incentives like slime, fidget toys, sensory toys and small candies.

The flexible seatings has also added a lot of excitement and motivation in my classroom. Students work hard and focus throughout computer time in order to be chosen to move to the carpet and sit on one of our new flexible, comfortable seats!

Again, my classroom could not be as successful without you and your generosity! Happy New Year to all.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Notaro

  • Pencils, More Pencils and More

    Funded Aug 15, 2023

The funding of this project was a dream come true! With your generosity, you helped me set up a warm and welcoming enviornment for my second graders.

The students love the essential oil scents that I can use in the diffuser. The paper towels help us on a daily basis, no explanation necessary with 25, 7 year olds in a room! The easel paper allows for me to create posters to hang up around the room that either explain classroom routines and procedures or are informational in regards to the content we are learning.

You also helped supply incentives for students who show respect, responsibility and kindness each day. The slime was SUCH a hit.

Thank you again for your generosity, we couldn't do it without you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Notaro

  • Back to the Basics!

    Funded Jun 30, 2023

Oh my goodness, I can't explain how helpful and amazing it was to have this project funded! You supplied our classroom with many of the essentials that a teacher needs to create a warm and welcoming enviornment for students.

The laminating sheets were used to laminate various decorative parts of the classroom. The batteries light up lamps and string lights that aide to the classroom being a cozy place the students love to be. The magnetic clips hold up 'Super Star' work and the kiddos love to see their good grades displayed for all to see.

We cannot thank you enough for your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Notaro

  • Cleaning Essentials and Organization

    Funded Mar 30, 2022

Thank you so much for your donations that were able to fund this project. It can be extremely overwhelming as a teacher in a high needs are to provide students with a clean and organized enviornment. Because of your generosity, I was able to do just that. The students were so pleased when they asked for a tissue and didn't have to go to the restroom to get toilet paper or downstairs to the main office in hopes that they have some. The organizational bins provided students with individualized areas to turn in their work and also created student jobs. We are so thankful to our Donors Choose network!”

  • Hybrid Learning

    Funded Aug 4, 2020

Thank you so much for your generous donations to my classroom this year, we could not be functioning without you! Many of the items that were donated have to do with keeping my students and self healthy. We really appreciate the hand sanitizers and the disinfectant anti-bacterial spray in times like this. Not only do we appreciate the necessary health items, we also love the warmth and comfort some of the other items bring us. Our 'Welcome' sign on the door is inviting to students and the motivational poster also on the door sets students minds on the right track before they even enter the classroom!

Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts, I would not be able to teach my students without you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Notaro

  • Technology at Home

    Funded Jun 2, 2020

Thank you so much for your kind and generous donations to my second grade classroom this year!

The computers that my children will use when we get back to school will help them learn and grow so much! They will be able to utilize all of their learning platforms on the Chromebooks and see even the smallest of font on these giant screens!

My school does not have 1 to 1 technology, meaning there are days when a student won't be able to use a compute due to lack of resources. With your generous donations, this will never be a problem for my students again!

My students and I thank you again! Please stay healthy and safe during these times.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Notaro

  • Creating an Inviting and Engaging Classroom

    Funded Aug 1, 2019

Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for your donations.

When my students saw that they each got their own dry erase marker for math time, they were thrilled! They also love the string lights that hang on the curtains, making for a homey environment when most don't have that at their own home.

I use my tabletop easel for small group math time. The kids love to come to the back table to deepen their understanding about the math curriculum. It makes it so easy to do a practice problem together on the tabletop easel because the kids can see it being done and then it stands nicely for them to look at for hints while they complete problems on their own.

Thank you again so much for your help in making my classroom a creative and engaging environment!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Notaro

  • Technology to Enhance Student Growth and Learning

    Funded Jul 28, 2019

I cannot thank you enough for the generous donation of headphones and Chromebooks. They have done wonders for my students and it's only November!

We use technology to get on reading platforms such as Lexia or Raz and math platforms such as Zearn or IXL. This is an easy way to track students progress on the basics of reading and if they are ready for the whole group math instruction that Zearn aligns with.

My students love that even when our class set of computers gets taken for testing, they will still have those beloved 4 that were donated to them.

Thank you again and I will always remember this gift!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Notaro

  • Aspiring To Be The Best Learners We Can Be!

    Funded Jul 18, 2018

One special moment I would like to share was when we had our first "Fun Friday." On Fun Friday, students are allowed to do several things. One of which is to color. I often tell them to draw a picture and color it in based on how they are feeling. My students were so happy when they got to use markers that WORKED! Their pictures were full or colors, happy and sad. The important thing was that my students got to express how they were feeling in a visual way.

My classroom was THRILLED when they walked into the room on that very first day. They were so relieved to hear that they did not have to bring in a ton of school supplies, because people had generously donated. As I walked around the classroom explaining each item, the looks on their faces were priceless. It was a combination of gratitude and pure excitement.

My students just began a new unit in math, time! We are going to use the rulers generously donated to measure out number lines, as that is how students begin to grasp the concept of elapsed time. In reading, we are learning about physical environments. Our markers will come in handy again as students will select environments that they find most interesting to research. After the research, students will be able to color in pictures of their chosen environment and present it to the class.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all that you donated to my classroom to ensure my students would have a successful year!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Notaro

My project consists of basic school supplies for my students and some items to ensure an organized classroom. I am a first year teacher working in an urban environment. I chose items for my project that will assist my students in being the best students they can be. For example, the many pencils and highlighters will allow students to write down their thoughts when they learn about context clues in the third grade English Language Arts curriculum and highlight key details when they learn the importance of the main idea and key details. The dry erase markers and rulers will be used during our math lessons. I often have students come up to the board and explain their thinking on the whiteboard using a dry erase marker. That way, students can see how their peers are solving problems and I can see where any misconceptions might lie. The rulers allow for hands-on learning when students create rectangles and squares to master calculating area and perimeter. An example of an item that will aide with the organization in the classroom is the 30 slot mailbox. With this, I can pass out individualized work and feedback to each student. With all of the necessary school supplies and an organized classroom, my students will not only be able to exceed in third grade but in their years beyond.
