I am the only Language Arts teacher for the 5 through 8 grade students in my tiny little rural school. This means I will have these kids for up to 4 years. Because I have them for so many years in a row, we (the students and I) are running out of books to read. Our tiny little school library does not offer very many books at their reading level. I have chosen a combination of children's books and novels for this project because both the students and myself LOVE when I read aloud to them-yes even the 8th graders. I use children's books to teach complex items like plot, conflict, theme and character development. Once they are on their own they need quality books to enjoy and practice the skills learned. My 8th graders have read most everything in the library and the classroom and are begging for more books. We want to continue on our reading adventure but we need more books to do so. WE LOVE READING
