  • Planting the Seeds of Kindness

    Funded Nov 17, 2022

Now that spring is almost here, we are getting into full swing with our plant propagation and seed starting. The plant stands with grow lights are keeping the classroom more organized and helping the plants grow bigger and better than last year!

My students were so excited when the shipment arrived. They were surprised that others who did not know them were showing kindness and generosity towards them as they don't necessarily feel that too often. It empowered them to want to continue promoting our Kindness Act at school and continue to pay it forward!

Thank you so much for your generosity!”

  • Learning to Give Back

    Funded Mar 30, 2022

Thank you so much for your generosity. My students were thrilled that someone took an interest in our project so that we could continue to carry out the mission of our Kindness Act.

Our Kindness Act was created to empower our students to spread kindness and joy throughout the building. We have been celebrating all birthdays (students and staff), celebrating new homes, weddings, new positions, and so much more.

We've also been showing support for students and staff who have experienced grief. Not only did my 4th period Business Math students benefit but so did the entire school community. Other students throughout the building have been following our lead and are helping to spread kindness by alerting us to happenings throughout the community and getting cards signed. This is more than I could have hoped for. Thanks so much!”

  • Yes, It Is Rocket Science!

    Funded Dec 1, 2021

Thank you so much for taking the time to donate to my project, "Yes, It Is Rocket Science!"

My students were thrilled beyond belief when I opened the box and presented the rocket kits! Constructing the rockets helped deepen their understanding of Newton's 3rd law of motion and rocketry. The hands on project kept them engaged and motivated to learn more. They also enjoyed being able to use their creativity and artistic talents to personalize the rockets and make them uniquely their own.

Since we live in upstate NY, we have been unable to launch the rockets yet due to weather conditions. I plan to do the rocket launch at the end of May beginning of June, when the weather is typically calm (no winds) and the ground is snow free and dry. It will be a great way to wrap up the year and review what they had learned earlier.

Again, thank you so much. Without all of your help, I wouldn't have been able to get these supplies!”

    With gratitude,

  • Staying Still Has Never Been This Easy!

    Funded Nov 28, 2021

Thank you so much for providing flexible seating options for my students! You have no idea how much of an impact this has made on my classroom learning environment in just a few weeks.

Each day my students hurry to class so they can be sure to get one of the new seats--whether it's the yoga ball, wobble stool, or floor desk. Tardiness has become less of an issue! Also, my students are staying on task longer at their seats. Before, when they got frustrated with an assignment they would get up and walk around. Now, they'll continue working through the frustration while bouncing on the yoga ball or wobbling on the stool. It's been amazing to see how quickly changes have taken place!

My students are incredibly grateful for your generosity. Honestly, they were quite surprised that people who didn't know us took an interest in our project. It helped me reinforce the idea that kindness can come from anywhere even from people they don't know and that we should spread kindness to others whenever I can. Just another reason I am extremely grateful! Thanks again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Seal

Each of my Basic Physics students will construct and launch a model rocket in order to reinforce their understanding of Newton's Laws of Motion. It will also be cross-curricular as students will be using algebraic skills to determine the altitude of the rockets as well as the velocity. They'll also be writing to explain. Most of all, this hands-on project will allow my students to develop greater self-confidence and feel a sense of accomplishment. It's amazing to watch them construct the model kits, personalize them with decorations and names, launch them and then have that A-ha! moment when they understand what they are observing at that moment.
