  • Botany in the Classroom

    Funded Aug 16, 2024

Thank you for these amazing plants. The students are so excited to observe and care for them. The cacti, Venus flytraps, and succulents are a huge source of learning and curiosity. We were also able to get butterflies for the Spring. As we discuss plants and their needs, we have this diversity of plants to help drive our conversations. We can see how leaves look different, why spines might be a good adaptation for protection, and more.

This gift will grow with us over the years. The kids are even trying to catch flies for the Venus fly traps.”

  • Marker Magic, Making Landfill Waste and Plastic Disappear

    Funded Mar 26, 2024

Thank you for helping to support this crucial program in our school. My students have developed and led a marker recycling program for a few years. When Crayola stopped its ColorCycle program, we turned to TerraCycle to keep it going.

We are so grateful to Allstate for funding this project. My students have learned so much about leadership, stewardship, and communication. They do all of the work to educate, motivate, and run this program in our school.

Recycling markers divert plastic from our landfills, preventing plastic pollution and fighting against climate change. Having marker recycling in our schools allows me to discuss climate change and sustainability in a practical and authentic manner and most importantly gives students a way to exercise agency and feel empowered.”

  • LEGO League Table

    Funded Mar 13, 2024

WOW -- believe it or not the table topper was delivered today and I am looking forward to using it this week with the students. They will be so excited to have a designated area for our missions. This is a game changer as it will allow several teams access to the game mat and for the first time, the mission mat will lay flat.

The students are so engaged and excited to begin this part of our work. Your donation will be used for years to come as we grow and develop this program.

I am so grateful and lucky to be supported by such a wonderful and generous community.”

  • Living Things, Engaged Students

    Funded Oct 30, 2023

The students are so excited to have these living organisms in the classroom. The succulents, cacti, and carnivorous plants have been a huge hit. The snails have joined our fish, Sushi in the tank, but it has been a rocky ride and many have not adapted well. (All a learning experience). The ferns also have been harder to care for but have provided some excellent learning opportunities as we try to figure out how to best take care of them.

Life is such an amazing thing and students love to take on the responsibility of caring for living things in the classroom. They enjoy the variety of life and will even touch the cactus even though they have been warned otherwise.

Thank you for giving my class these joys and curiosities.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Schuleman

  • Flexible Seating

    Funded Nov 27, 2023

WOW! This has been a game-changer in my classroom. The kids are thrilled to have this floor desk. Every single class has several students asking to move to the floor to use the desk in the front of the room. It is great to see kids who recognize that sitting closer will help set them up for success and now they can do so without feeling out of place.

Flexible seating is just one of the ways to meet the needs of students. Choice is a powerful tool that allows students to learn how they learn best and advocate for themselves.

Thank you for adding this tool to my classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Schuleman

  • Circuits to Highlight Learning

    Funded Nov 9, 2023

Thank you for your generosity. Such a great project that allowed students to express themselves and learn more about circuits. Identity is such a personal and vital part of our lives and having this safe space to share made this project even more meaningful.

We also used a computer to design our circuits before adding the LED lights. Students had to consider the best path, whether or not they would use a parallel or series circuit and more.

Your support allowed us to continue to offer engaging hands-on project learning.”

  • Teacher Created Resources for Diverse Learners

    Funded May 11, 2023

Thank you for supporting my classroom These cards have already provided so many excellent resources for the classroom. Some of the best, picture vocabulary for our science units in both English and other languages, challenge activities for students who complete their work early, and some practice materials for students who needed a little extra to really understand the materials.

Thank you again for helping me meet the needs of my students without having to spend hours reinventing the wheel when so many quality materials are available.”

  • We Can See the Science and More

    Funded May 11, 2023

Thank you, thank you, thank you! This document camera has been really doing so much work in the classroom. We observed butterfly larva and were able to zoom in really close to see the details. We were able to share a picture a student drew while they were explaining it. It was a great way to share our read aloud book so everyone could see the pictures.

Each day we find more and more ways to use this document camera in the classroom. I am so appreciative and grateful for your support and generosity. I know this tool will be used for years to come in supporting the learning of my students.”

My students are the future of our world. These are the students who will be our next generation of doctors, engineers, and scientists. We must inspire them in their youth to value math and science. Hands on inquiry science is the best way to capture their curiosity and create these leaders of tomorrow.
