Ready, Set, Read!
Funded Apr 14, 2019My students enjoyed using the materials that we received from this project. Often times non fiction text can be a challenge for young readers. The Dangerous Animals non fiction text were a great way to continue our work with non fiction text in a fun and interesting way.
I constantly look for ways to increase my students vocabulary skills and the vocabulary cards were perfect. I introduced them in a whole group setting and then let the students use them independently.
It's so empowering to watch my students take ownership of their learning and these materials allowed my kids to practice critical reading skills in a fun and engaging way.”

We Like to Move It, Move It! Flexible Seating Rocks!
Funded Aug 30, 2018The gift of flexible seating in my classroom has been a game changer. It has allowed my students the opportunity to choose where they best learn and take control of their learning. It has allowed me the opportunity to empower my students with learning about choice and how choice can change our journey, even with something as small as where we sit.
It was so exciting for my students to come into the class and see our new flexible seating materials. It was like Christmas- the wonder of our project coming to life and having our materials there in real life! It has taught my students responsibility-as a class we rotate through the flexible seating options and students are expected to take care of the materials. My students have taken to the flexible seating like pros- it has allowed them to work more closely with their peers and collaborate on learning goals.
This year we have been working with students from the University of Arizona on a science program. Working in groups with our flexible seating, we are working on a science project that will help to increase the pollinating insects in our school garden. The students are so excited to work with their classmates and make our garden a great place for all animals and insects!”
