  • Basic Basics Never Too Basic

    Funded Feb 26, 2023

Thank you so much for your gratitude in donating to this projects. My students definitely benefitted from all the times that are funded. We were able to complete the rest of the school year with no problem as my students had supplies that allows them to continue their academics. In addition, students were able to partake in more activities as they do not have to worry about having the supplies or no. I felt more at ease that I can see the happiness in my children when they are partaking in group, class, and individual activities. My students and I would love to thank you all for your generosity. I really appreciate the support so that I can ensure my students are getting everything they need. Once again, thank you so much.”

    With gratitude,

  • Reading Is Fun

    Funded May 3, 2022

Thank you for the kind donations to make this project possible. Due to your help, my English as a New Language students are able to have books to pick from in the classroom library to meet their needs and help them build on their learning of the new language. My students were extremely excited to have the box delivered and new books added to the library for them to enjoy. Students are constantly going towards these books and I notice that my ENL students are happy to pick up books that are not too hard for them to read and its books that they can use to help build vocabulary and knowledge.”

  • My Voice is Heard

    Funded Dec 18, 2021

Thank you so much for supporting this project that I created for my students. Teaching and learning during the pandemic can be very hard for both the students and teachers. However, with the right equipment, it can make it easier for the learners in the classroom.

When receiving these items, my students were very excited to have microphones so that they can share their ideas. This is exceptionally helpful for students who have a soft voice and it also helps students feel like their voices are heard and that everyone is listening to their ideas. Students are very excited to use the microphones and I get to use the voice amplifier to teach.

Once again, thank you so much for your support. My students and I appreciate each donation and will be using it dearly throughout the year.”

  • Basic Supplies

    Funded Aug 1, 2021

Thank you for your donations, my students appreciated the materials donated to make sure our school year rungs efficiently. I am glad that we have an abundance of basic supplies so I do not have to worry about rather if I have a pencil in the classroom to give to a student. My students will definitely make sure of all the supplies bought for the classroom and we will ensure it is taken care of so it lasts for a longer duration. Since this was sent during the summer, I was unable to get my students initial reaction but when I told them about it, they felt thankful.”

  • Rewards for Students

    Funded Jul 12, 2021

Thank you so much for your donations to make this project possible. My students will be thrilled to know that there are scented pencils and unique eraser tops in the prize box. Having these items will provide engagement to even the most unengaged student(s). I know this first hand because this year's students really enjoyed the scented pencils and worked really hard to make sure they earned them.

Even though my students will not be able to see the items from this project until school starts, I will be glad to tell them that wonderful people donated to this project to make sure they are getting what they deserve for working hard. Something as little as scented pencils will mean a lot of students, especially during the pandemic.

My next steps for my students on this project are to make sure that they're motivated and getting the supplies to support them.”

  • Safety First

    Funded Nov 19, 2020

I would like to thank you so much for your support during these unprecedented times. Due to being in person, my main concern is the safety of the students in my classroom. Therefore, I knew that I needed to ensure I have the proper materials to keep the classroom safe for both my students and me.

Being that there are a lot of students coming in for in-person learning, our school has three cohorts that rotate between the week. Having these materials allow me to ensure that I was able to receive items that will allow me to clean the classroom surfaces that my students are using before they come in to ensure that they have a safe space to work in while they are in school.

The other materials such as a laptop stand allow me to work remotely at home when we have to switch to remote learning abruptly due to cases in the school or closure of school due to the state mandates. I am grateful for the donations that made this project happen. When my students feel safe, I feel safe as well as they are healthy enough to come back to school next time they are in person.”

  • Social Emotions Matter

    Funded May 28, 2020

Thank you for your generous donations. Without your help, this project would not be possible. I was able to get multitudes of books to share with my students during distance learning. Being able to hold a book up and read to the students felt different than reading e-texts.

A lot of these books will be a great addition to my classroom library once we get back into the classroom. It teaches students social emotions and how they can be great citizens of the school. Social-emotional learning is essential as students learn how to handle their emotions and deal with situations that occur on a daily basis. Learning how to solve their own problems will allow students to become better mindful students.

The positive spots will allow students to constantly see positive talk around the classroom. When students are exposed to positive talk, they will hopefully start to use it in their own conversations.”

  • Never Too Basic

    Funded Feb 5, 2020

Thank you so much for their basic needs. I cannot express how thankful I am for having you support the simple need of a busy classroom. Pencils, gluestick and other supplies might seem very basic and easy to get, however, it can be hard for some families to afford.

As my students saw a box come into our classroom, they were really curious as to what was inside. They knew we had special donors like you who are helping with a project that I made for the class. I remember my students expressing that even though we are just getting pencils, glue sticks, post-its, and paper in the mail, it was still great because those are exactly what we needed. It is the middle of the year and we were running out of basic school supplies. Therefore, these items came in handy when needed. My students really needed these items prior to school closing. As I was packing their supplies up for parents to pick up for their remote learning, I was able to put in a little of these supplies for these students. Some of these supplies will be extremely helpful to future students as they are used to make the classroom look appealing to them.”

  • Basic Needs Are an Essential #2

    Funded Nov 1, 2019

Thank you so much for the basic resources that will help drive the rest of the school year. As my students saw that we got another package from donorschoose, they were really excited. Students helped open the package and saw that there are many supplies that are basic but will allow us to work nicely throughout the year.

As a teacher, we know that there is never enough pencils for students that are hard at work. Pencils magically disappear even though you placed new pencils out a couple of minutes before. However, these are signs that my students are doing a lot of work in the classroom. The other supplies allow me to quickly cut out task cards for students so that they can have games and other studying cards.

The tape that I requested allowed me to tape anchor charts that will help my students up on the wall without it constantly falling due to the heat or windy room. Regular tape and a strong new stapler helped me fix the books in or classroom library. This allows my students to continue using these books and enjoy reading.

Once again, thank you so much to everyone that contributed to this project. My students and I really appreciate the effort and thought that was put on it. I hope that more projects like these will be funded to help classrooms in different areas.”

  • Laminate Galore

    Funded Aug 13, 2019

Thank you for helping make this project come alive. With this project, I am able to make a lot of the resources last so that I can continue to build on it instead of having to make new ones every year. Having a class with beginner ENL learners can be a challenge when you do not have the appropriate resources.

With the laminating sheets, I am able to make all of the toolkits that my students need that lasts year-round. These tool kits support their learning in all subject areas. When materials are laminated, we do not have to worry about losing parts of our tool kits and having to replace it. I am able to dedicate my time to finding new tool kits for my students and also focus on the engagement piece.

My students really treasure all of these tool kits because they are very special to them. They help them learn and guide them in their reading and writing process. They love using these tool kits as they are interactive. My students get to see me put together their tool kits when they join me during lunch. They love helping me cut and put them in laminating pouches.

Once again, we must thank all of our donors for making this experience possible for my present and future students. Instead of worrying about losing parts of tool kits, I now can focus on worrying about making sure my students learning and building on their resources for their learning experience as English Langauge Learners.”

Teaching emergent learners can be a challenge when there is a language barrier. I try my best to provide as much visual support for my students to aide their learning in the English language easier. I can relate to my emergent learners as I was once an emergent learner myself. Not knowing what the teacher or other students are saying can be very challenging and frustrating. Since I teach students from a lot of different backgrounds, I feel lucky to get to know all these different cultures and how unique each child is. I constantly learn from my students. Learning is a two way street and it should always be like that.
