Our school is located in a low income urban neighborhood. Our families are primarily Latino immigrant, Pacific Islander and African American. Many of our students and their families deal with challenges related to immigration status, incarceration of family members and community violence daily. Out school is a small close-knit community where we work to create both safety and rigorous growth opportunities for all students. My 11th grade students this year are full of energy, ideas and knowledge from their lived experiences. They are ready to build on previous knowledge to better themselves and become leaders in their community.
