Libros for Spanish Class!
Funded Dec 27, 2017It's a great feeling to know that there are others who are just as passionate about helping children as I am. Through your donations, hundreds of children will have access to quality Spanish literature. I can't wait to begin teaching the children to read in Spanish. This is a great way to start the new year.”

Funded May 31, 2017On behalf of the approximately 400 students I see weekly, I want to thank you for your donations! The materials received have helped improve instruction in my classroom in so many ways. Few people know the hard work and dedication it takes to be a teacher. We pour our hearts, time, and money into our classrooms, often with little to no recognition. Support from donors like yourselves helps us feel like we are not alone.
Spanish instruction in my school is a new endeavor, therefore, these supplies were much needed. My classroom needed a variety of books in Spanish to help foster vocabulary acquisition, early literacy skills, and content area knowledge. The students love spending time looking through the books for words they have learned in Spanish. Having a variety of high-quality literature in Spanish helps to connect the background knowledge they have in their first language to important concepts they need in Spanish.
I believe in fostering an environment where children are intrinsically motivated to learn through participation and play! The Spanish puzzles, bingo games and language cards help provide a variety of ways for children to practice and show what they are learning in fun ways. The children love coming to Spanish class and bragging to their parents about all the new words and phrases they have been learning, and you have played a major part in this! On behalf of all the Spanish learners at my school, gracias!”

Funded Dec 24, 2014Thank you again for your generous contribution to my classroom. The children were elated to hear that they would be the recipients of such wonderful materials. We have been using the materials in numerous ways. Since the students have been able to use the materials, I have noticed an increase in both independence and motivation. The children are more eager to read and write because they know that someone else considers their learning important enough to try their best in these areas. As a young child, there are few things more thrilling than the excitement of a blank piece of paper, and materials with which to share their imaginations; even in this day and age of technological advancement. Thank you for your contributions which have enhanced our classroom tremendously!”

Help Jump-Start The New School Year!
Funded Aug 22, 2014I want to start by thanking you for your thoughtful contributions to our classroom. The children were very excited to hear about the funding of our project and they were beyond thrilled when the supplies arrived. What I found to be priceless was the lesson they learned about the importance of being a giver and how selfless acts can significantly improve the lives of others.
Since we've received the supplies I have noticed an increase in their enthusiasm in the classroom! The writing journals have inspired the children to think and write about their own topics independently. Since we've began using them I've noticed an increase in the quality of their writing. These notebooks have served as a wonderful way for me to assess what their writing needs are and focus instruction accordingly. The extra pens, pencils and markers provide students with options for writing tools. You wouldn't believe how much of a difference these choices can make! The Scholastic News and Time for Kids subscriptions have increased the amount of nonfiction reading we do in class. The high-interest subjects these magazines address provide wonderful topics of discussion in our classroom, along with exposing the children to events and issues all over the world! The Evan Moor books have proved themselves invaluable because they have provided students with much needed language practice and support. Since we've received these books, we have been using them to practice editing, improve upon writing mechanics, and learn and practice new math strategies. None of this would be possible without the copy paper your donations supplied because while these books are great, they'd be useless if I didn't have the paper to make copies of these activities for the children.
I can probably go on and on about how you've helped to improve the quality of learning in my classroom. Words cannot describe how excited the children are to use the materials we've received. Thank you for making the decision to invest in our future, which resides in these children.”

Funded Mar 8, 2014I want to start off by thanking you once again for investing in the lives of my students. When we received the materials we were thrilled! The children had many questions about who our donors were and why you chose to make donations towards our project. Besides the impact of these resources what has impacted them most was the thought that people such as yourselves care enough to invest in them.
The materials have been used to enhance our bridge study. The children have been using the blocks and K'Nex sets to design and build their own structures. With the architectural blocks they have built not only bridge but some children have even designed replicas of cities! The K'Nex sets teach the children the importance of being able to work together in groups and how to read and follow step-by-step instructions. After the children design and create their structures, they then used the paper we received to create backgrounds for their bridges or record their designs. Taking on the roles of architects, designers, and engineers was important because it allowed the children to take an active role in their learning, applying what they've learned through our field trips, what we've read in books, and observed on our own. I feel like I can't begin to accurately articulate how these resources have improved our study on bridges. Thank you for being a major part of that!”

Funded Mar 26, 2014I want to take this time to thank you all again for your generous and very thoughtful donations to my classroom. When we received the books the children were so excited. The listening center has become one of the most popular centers during our literacy time. They expressed excitement, gratitude, and more importantly they expressed how special they felt because you felt they were worthy of such quality materials.
In our classroom, the resources are being used to enhance literacy instruction. Since all of my students are either current or former English language learners, having exposure to fluent and native/-like reading in English is essential to their language development. The groups of children rotate through the listening center throughout the week and are able to practice their fluency and reading expression as they read along with the books. Having a variety of books at different levels meets the diverse literary needs of all my students. These read-along books have become an essential part of reading instruction in our classroom and we thank you”
