Read All About It!
Funded Nov 25, 2015I want to thank you for your generous donation to my classroom. The children were super excited to receive new resources for their learning centers.
Each day we use at least one thing from this project when we work in our small groups. My students are making great progress and truly enjoy learning with their new materials and resources.
Their phonics and reading skills have improved tremendously as they are beginning to learn how to read. They found a love in learning and have become so motivated to work hard.
Thank you again so much. Please know that your generosity helped us so much.”

Help Us Rebuild What Sandy Destroyed
Funded Dec 24, 2012I want to thank you for your generous donation to my classroom. Thank you for our new listening center, books on CD as well as an excellent phonics activity program.
While the students listen to their books on CD, they focus on the sounds of words read to them without interruption. It is a great model of fluent reading. My students are being exposed to a multi-sensory experience with books. The listen and learn phonics activity program has allowed my students to strengthen their phonemic awareness. It has become a classroom favorite during center time.
Our school has been heavily impacted from Super Storm Sandy and without your help, my students would never have has these vital resources. Its people like you who help make a difference in the lives of these children.”

Funded Dec 14, 2012I want to thank you for your generous donation to our classroom. Thank you for our Kindle Fire HD. It really helped us out when we were relocated due to Hurricane Sandy and it is used daily not that we have gone back to our school location.
The students use the Kindle Fire either independently, with a partner or in a small group. They love to read books using the Kindle Fire HD. They read and listen to books which is a good option for emergent readers. The many apps available from the Kindle also help build their important foundational skills they need to succeed in school.

Funded Dec 6, 2012I want to thank you for your generous donation to my classroom. The Word Wall Pocket Chart is used everyday. It is placed in the front of our room and displays the sight words we have learned. The students love it and refer to it all the time. We use the Sight Word Readers all the time as the students practice their reading skills. The Word Family Readers were a must-have for our classroom. Not only do they help the students become better readers, they also help them become better writers as well as spellers. Each book helps to reinforce a different word family.

We use books from the First Little Readers library each day during our guided reading groups. Each day, we also use the set of Emergent Readers. They are so ideal for my beginning readers. They are perfect for building vocabulary as well as their reading confidence. My students also use the Sight-Word readers all the time to practice their reading skills. With all these books you provided, its amazing to see how much their reading skills have improved.

Funded Nov 30, 2012I want to thank you for you generous donation to my classroom. The tablets that were donated to my class has really made a difference in their learning. It is amazing how far technology has come and to recognize its importance in a classroom.
The math program used in our school has a technology portion that before having tablets, we were unable to access. Seeing math concepts come alive before their eyes has been motivational for them. In addition we have downloaded math apps to supplement their learning.
The tablets are also use for English Language Arts. We have downloaded many apps to help with letter recognition, letter sounds, spelling and reading.
Our school was heavily impacted by Hurricane Sandy and without your help, my students would never have had an opportunity to work with technology in their classroom.”

We Are Stronger Than Sandy
Funded Nov 21, 2012I want to thank you for your generous donation to my classroom. Since we received the items, my students math skills have noticeably improved.
With the Tactile Number Match-Up Cards, my students are building up their number skills. After they match up the number to the quantity, they can trace the number with their finger tip. The Pattern Blocks and Activity Cards have really improved their skills in patterns, problem-solving and geometry concepts. The levels on the cards range which is good for differentiation. We use the counters and write and wipe boards just about everyday in their math lessons. The See and Solve Manipulatives and Add-a-Frog center activity has really helped to improve their counting and addition skills.
Our school was heavily impacted by Hurricane Sandy and without your help, my students would never have had these vital resources.”
