Multiplying Our Success
Funded Oct 23, 2018I would like to sincerely thank you for taking your time and money to donate to my project. Your extreme graciousness has allowed my students to gain access to nine tablets that they use each and every school day during their small group instructional math period.
As our times are changing so is education but at a much slower rate. Students do not always respond to the "old ways" of teaching and this makes teaching difficult. I need to think out of the box and use multiple resources in order to engage my students and help them succeed. One such medium is by using the Internet. Through research, I have found that there are numerous online programs that offer fun and engaging educational experiences, specifically the math platform Prodigy.
Prodigy is a multi-player online math game where students embark on a quest to save the world through math. The students immerse themselves in a "Minecraft" world and battle each other by correctly solving math problems. Prodigy provides math content for grades 1-8 and allows teachers to assign tasks and monitor instruction. Prodigy allows my students to succeed at their own pace.
With the introduction of Prodigy, I have seen engagement in math increase tenfold. Students are incredibly excited to play the game and often times are willing to give up their recess in order to come upstairs and play with their friends. The students will often exclaim during our lessons that they recognize the material because they saw it on Prodigy. One student even exclaimed that Prodigy was just as fun as Fortnite, and then later amended his statement to say that Prodigy is better than Fortnite. To hear my students talking about math in such a positive way has made me so appreciative of you, the donors who chose to fund my project.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your donation is supporting the future and your impact will forever be remembered and appreciated for years to come.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Robinson
