Using Technology to Become Hands-on Learners
Funded Dec 11, 2024Thank you so much for the new iPad. This new iPad allows my students to have updated information through technology so they can learn and grow daily! I am able to download apps to assist all of the students in my classroom daily. The students were excited that they could use their hands to learn.
Many of them are unable to use a computer or a mouse due to their fine motor skills. We do most of our learning with hands-on activities, and the iPad allows them time to work with technology and not be overwhelmed trying to use a mouse. They also can use the iPad during free choice to learn to play games and be okay with losing. They can get upset when something does not go their way, and they are learning social-emotional skills with the iPad that it is ok when things don't go their way. Again, the students in my classroom are so thankful that we were able to get the iPad.”

Funded Oct 24, 2024Thank you so much for the new benches. We have 3 RISE special education classrooms and 1 Pre-Kindergarden classroom that share space during arrival and dismissal. The two new benches have been a great asset to the transition from home to school and vice versa. The students were excited that they did not have to stand anymore to wait to go in or get to their cars. They can sit and it reduces the safety concerns that the teachers had before they were donated.
It is cold now, and we had some snow last week, so we are not able to use them as much for take-a-break areas. But in the spring, we will be able to utilize them more to assist with student social-emotional learning activities. We will start using bench buddies and be able to talk to students in a safe place one on one. Again, the 4 classrooms are so thankful that we were able to get them.”

Building the Whole Child
Funded Sep 6, 2024Thank you so much for the swings for all the students at my school. The students in my room were overjoyed and couldn't contain their excitement when they opened the boxes to get the new items out. The new swings were put up within the week and the swings were a big hit for all the students at the school. We only had six usable swings on the playground, so these new swings were used immediately. All the students love going outside and are excited to use them more. Thanks again for your contributions to our school.”

Legos Please
Funded Aug 28, 2024Thank you so much for the Lego figurines, animals, and the Lego table. The students loved the items and were excited to open the boxes to get the new items out. We had a few friends who tried to jump off the table, so I took off the legos so they could be used for free choice and instructional learning. We are learning about animals and plants, and we can now use the animal legos to assist in that instruction. The students love going to the new center and are excited to use it more. Thanks again for your contributions.”

Sensory Integration
Funded Aug 16, 2023Thank you so much for your support with this project. All of my students were so excited when they helped open the box, and they tried to help put it together. The hammock has been a new favorite in my room. We have to set a timer so everyone gets a turn. I have found that a few of my students like to swing but do not have the upper body strength to use the ones outside on the playground.
It has calmed students during meltdowns and helped prevent a few. Having it in my classroom makes academic time more controlled, and we are getting much more accomplished. If students need a break, they can get it and quickly get back on task. We will continue working on sensory needs in the future to see how well they respond to different activities and items.”

Funded Aug 17, 2021Thank you so much for your donations to allow my students to have technology in my room. They were so excited to get the box and open it. They all wanted to use the Ipad first. We took many turns that first day. They are still happy to use it but are better about taking turns and sharing. So it assists in the social, emotional aspect of the classroom.
It also assists academically. My students are connecting technology to build learning and problem-solving strategies through play. We are using the device daily during one on one instruction. We use Teachtown Encore and N2Y, and they are showing more growth with having the new Ipad to use.
The Ipad is also allowing my students to become more independent. Most of my students cannot use mouses and keyboards, so the Ipad provides access to their curriculum. They can also use apps that I have downloaded during instruction and free choice to assist in their academics.
Thanks again!”

Funded Apr 24, 2021Thank you so much for the Apple pencil, mouse, keyboard to assist with their fine motor skills. The items are helping all of the students in my room. When it is time for them to work, they are excited to come to my table for teacher instruction.
My students utilize iPads daily, and by having tools during small group instruction to help them scroll and click through assignments that they have to complete, they can do more independently.
These items have been helpful for my younger students who are having difficulty with the google classroom assignments. They touch with all of their hand instead of using their pointer finger. Thank you again for these items. They will be well used moving forward.”

Legos for Learning
Funded Dec 26, 2020I want to say thank you for the donations that you provided so my classroom could get the Lego Sets. My students were so excited when they opened the boxes. My students like using Legos and were excited to get new items that they were able to use. I have primarily small legos, so having these bigger legos was a great addition for my students who need fine motor skills.
We have been using the Legos to learn more about stop-and-go right now. They have been learning red light-green light, so the Lego Train can help generalize those skills. They have had fun looking at the pictures and figuring out how to put everything together. We will be doing some STEAM activities in the next few weeks with these items.
Also, I plan to use these Legos to work on some of the student's IEP goals, for example:
One-to-one counting correspondence
Color matching
Putting letters on some of the legos for word matching
Following directions
I love that Legos are so versatile, and I can use them in so many ways in my classroom. Thank you again from both my students and me.”

Assistive Technology
Funded Sep 7, 2020My class and I thank you again for the Ipad that we received. It will assist them in learning how to use technlogy for fun like they do at home and academics.
We use Starfall and town curriculum, and both have apps that allow the students to work individually. They are learning better and can do more online activities by themselves. It will help them become more independent learners.
I have two students that particularly like using the new Ipad. They like that it is smaller than the smartboard. They can sit at their desk and use it. They are more attentive and can show what they know more accurately.”

Coding 101
Funded Mar 12, 2019Thank you so much for the donations that you have given my classroom. They were all so excited when they got the materials. They liked the robots and immediately asked if they could try them out. They were not sure what to do with the mini spiro until I made it move.
After we play with them to see what their imaginations can do by themselves, I am planning to use them to teach them how to do simple coding with the IPad. It will be a great way to incorporate technology in my classroom using coding.
I do thank you again for allowing us to get these items. I am hoping to continue getting STEAM materials to assist my students in becoming more critical thinkers and enjoying learning. They like hands-on learning and I can see a difference in the short amount of time that we have had the items in the classrooms.”
