Flexible Seats for Squirrely Feet!
Funded Dec 8, 2022Thank you all very much for the generous donation. The new seating options have really made an impact. Students love being able to move and let energy out during our 90 minute classes. One student even said, "I feel so much more focused. I can even sit and read stories on my own without feeling the need to get up because I can move around."
Students are also becoming mindful of their bodies and needs. They are empowered to overcome challenges in order to succeed. Best of all, there are far fewer disruptions.”
With gratitude,

Books and Hands on Learning
Funded May 21, 2022Thank you so much for the generous donations. Thanks to you all my students have access to books that feature characters and authors that look like them. Recently one of my student M was working on a narrative we were writing for class. He told me that boys like him don't read or write. I was so excited to show him all the books by black males in our library like Jason Reynolds & Track Series Paperback Collection, A Good Kind of Trouble, Look Both Ways: A Tale Told in Ten Blocks, and many others. Another day a student and I were discussing her love of reading fiction. She told me her parents wanted her to branch out so I was able to offer her a variety of books- Becoming by Michelle Obama, Dreams of My Father by Barack Obama, and the March by John Lewis Book 1,2, and 3. She was very excited to read these. I have a lot of books by white authors, but I was pleased that I had the option to expand her reading into other genres and diverse authors and subjects. Thank you for helping make my classroom a truly diverse space!”
