In our class, brain breaks are the bomb! I've tried bean bag toss, Simon Says, word association, strike a pose, dancing and singing rap rhymes together, to name a few. If fitness is our goal, then exercise balls have a "roll" to play. I was inspired by my 3rd grade teammate to get on the ball and make it happen this year. Our mission is twofold: engage the body in order to engage the brain. If my students are like me, and many are, sitting for long periods of time is practically impossible. With exercise balls, wiggle chairs, and chair bands, students are given the chance to not be stationary in a non disruptive, body and brain-loving kind of way. Kinesthetic learning, move over, there's a new kid in town!
