Funded Apr 21, 2025As the year is winding down with my scholars, I have been allowing them to use the math games for early exposure to fifth grade materials that they will be using for the next school year. It is exciting to see them working together and making sense of math concepts that will be detrimental to their success next year.
I have been reading "180 Days: Includes Reading 2nd Edition, Writing, and Math for 5th Grade Practice Workbook for Classroom and Home, Cool and Fun Practice Created by Teachers" to familiarize myself with what I will be teaching next year. I am growing as a teacher and looking at ways to best serve the needs of my diverse learners.
I am also using the workbook materials to create a morning bellwork routine, so when students come in each morning, the expectation is that they get right to work. This setts the tone for high expectations among all scholars.
I shared the funny posters that I plan to use in my classroom and received high approval from the class. I believe that using humor with my upper elementary students next year will help break the ice when I am setting rules and relationships.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Brinkman
