Rad Reads for Reluctant Readers
Funded Oct 3, 2024Thank you for your donations to our classroom. Students have loved the books so far, they are some of the most checked-out titles from our classroom library. In order to help my students build robust independent reading lives, I need a variety of titles to capture their interest and keep them reading. This project aimed to increase that variety.
In these titles, students can not only engage with protagonists that they can relate to and see themselves in, but also authors who are experts in their craft and have created series or sets of books that my students would also love to read. Thank you again for helping me create a robust classroom library.”

Funded Aug 15, 2024Thank you for your donation to our classroom space. Creating a warm, inviting, and student-friendly classroom is important for fostering belonging and academic success.
Your donation has provided durable, aesthetically pleasing bean bag chairs that have enhanced our classroom library and provided an additional small group work space. Creating a dedicated small group work space fosters collaboration and discussion, helping my students grow skills that will help them find success in the future. These chairs also offer a quiet spot to sit and read, recharging during the busy school day. Thank you again for your donation.”

Funded Aug 3, 2024Thank you for your donation to this project. These books will be used to enhance our classroom library, adding award-winning titles for students to select for independent reading.
While we read, discuss, and analyze high-quality texts together in class, independent reading is the place where students get to select a text that interests them and read it on their own. Once they're done reading and analyzing, they have an opportunity to share highlights from that text with the class.
The books purchased in this project are award-winning titles that are engaging, relevant, and thought-provoking. Thank you for helping me make these titles available for our students.”

"When Stars are Scattered" by Omar Mohamed
Funded Nov 30, 2022Thank you for this donation to our classroom. "When Stars Are Scattered" is a powerful and engaging graphic novel that will impact my students for years to come. Your donation has enabled my students to connect with and learn from Omar's story. By using literature to act as both a window and a mirror, I hope to inspire my students to identify, develop and share their own stories of growth and survival. Thank you again for taking the time and energy to donate to our classroom library. Your donation means a lot to us.”

Funded Nov 29, 2022Thank you for your donations to our classroom. The bean bags, rug and chair bands we received helped make our classroom cozy, flexible and productive. As you know, not all students learn the same way. As a middle school teacher, it is important to me to be able to provide a variety of workspaces for my students and to empower them to select the space where they are most productive. I also want to use our space to foster collaboration and connection among students. These skills will help them not only personally but also collectively in the future. Thanks again!”

Funded Nov 29, 2021Thank you for donating to our classroom library. This project addresses one of my greatest challenges- keeping a variety of engaging and relevant texts available for my students to read. Research suggests that in order to be effective, classroom libraries should aim to have 15-20 books per student. This project is helping me get closer to that ratio!
Graphic novels, in particular, are a student favorite. This particular genre is popular for its combination of text and images as well as its wide variety of adoption. Graphic novels range from retelling of classic tales and timeless stories to original pieces and even Manga. I enjoy using these texts to push my students' thinking, expanding their abilities to analyze characters, plot development and theme.
Needless to say, these books were checked out quickly and will be circulated frequently. Thank you for your contribution to our growth!”

Games Galore!
Funded Nov 18, 2021Thank you for your generous donation to our classroom. My students were thrilled to open the vocabulary games and have already had some positive academic and social emotional experiences.
When we first started playing "Headbandz" many people struggled to figure out what their card said. It was a humbling moment for us all! Through teamwork, we realized an appropriate strategy for being successful in the game and were able to coach each other to use this strategy. By the end of our first day playing we were all laughing. These type of shared experiences will pay off long after we've put the game away.
Similarly, when playing "Boggle", we realized that all of those root word activities we'd been practicing in class suddenly had a new purpose! Thank you for your donation and for providing some real world opportunities for us to practice our developing skills.”

Tech for Teens
Funded Feb 16, 2018Thank you for your donations to our project. Technology is increasingly important in our world and understanding how to use it to learn, collaborate and present ideas are crucial skills for my middle school students. Your donation has provided current technology for my students to use to independently access online tools to support their academic growth and prepare for the future. In class we use technology to access google tools such as gmail, google drive and google classroom. I'm excited to see all the amazing projects and collaborations that will develop this year. Thanks again.”

Help Us Fill our Chromebook Cart!
Funded Jan 25, 2018Thank you for your donations to help us fill our Chromebook Cart. My students use technology daily and your donation will help each student have access to a working piece of technology. They use chromebooks not only to access the internet and a plethora of programs to support them at their academic level, but also collaboration tools such as Google Classroom and Google Drive. My students use these tools to create projects together, collaborate and refine their ideas and learn from each other. They practice crucial skills such as team work and how to create and give an oral presentation which will be helpful for them in their academic and professional futures. Your donation has made this possible. I cannot thank you enough!”

Funded Oct 19, 2017Thank you for your generous donations. My students were excited to get our copies of "World Without Fish" for book clubs. We're starting a new reading curriculum this year which uses a workshop model to provide engaging and challenging instruction for each student. In order to fully implement this curriculum we need a wide range of high quality, engaging nonfiction texts. Students will select the text they want to work with and read, analyze and discuss the text with a group of their peers. Your donation has made this possible.”
