Headphones, Fidgets, and Mice Would Make Our Lives So Nice!
Funded Sep 11, 2024Thank you so much for your generous donations towards our fidgets, headphones, mice, and other muchly needed supplies! They have been extremely helpful.
Many of my students struggle with staying focused. A large percentage of my students have either experienced trauma in their lives, some have experienced wars, or lived in a refugee camp. So the fidgets have been immensely helpful. We are also focused on Universal Design Learning and having those tools help us reach all of our learner's learning styles. Every day, students can now reach into the basket and choose a fidget that works for them.
A large percentage of my students speak another language. We have access to computers, but it was difficult for students to listen to translations of videos and/or they needed to speak into a microphone to use Google Translate. They also needed help highlighting text to translate it. The headphones with the mic built in allow them to do just that. They are now more easily able to highlight text to translate it too.
Thank you so much for supporting my students' learning.”

Funded May 2, 2017Thank you so much for supporting my students! With your generous donation, they will be able to build proto-types with much greater efficiency. We will spend much more time researching and designing solutions to problems rather than digging through a giant box of materials! The bins will help keep their projects safe and organized.
My students take part in the MESA program, Math Engineering Science Achievement. This is a national program that gives students in under-represented groups more opportunities in math, science, and engineering. Every year, my students take part in an engineering competition. This past year, the competition required them to build a prosthetic arm. We had lots of materials to build with such as cardboard tubes, Velcro, and duct tape. But they were all piled into one large bin of supplies. So when a student tried to find something, they spent a whole lot of time digging through the bin. With the arrival of 18 clear plastic bins, we were able to separate out those materials and label the bins. This will save us a whole lot of time in the future, when students are selecting supplies.
They also needed to attach pieces together with screws and bolts. And sometimes they needed to drill holes into wood or cardboard. They were extremely excited to see the arrival of our power drill! They were all arguing over who was going to get to use it first! The drill will continue to come in handy, as students will be taking part in a challenge next year where they will need to build some sort of underwater robot. We look forward to using these supplies next year to help us with future engineering projects.”

Help ALL of the Scientists Focus!
Funded Apr 20, 2015Thank you so much for donating to my "Help ALL of the Scientists Focus!" project! The yoga balls have created so much excitement in my classroom. My students were so eager to use the yoga balls that they helped to inflate them THAT day. There was a room full of cheers, as my principal and another teacher brought in the large boxes. Students had been asking me every day since I announced that the grant funded, "When are the yoga balls coming?!"
The students love being able to wobble and bounce, while they are working. They are able to concentrate better. I was pleasantly surprised to see how many students wanted to use the yoga ball to help them focus. Students use them the entire class period and are much more focused.
This project would not have been possible, if it wasn't for your donations. Thank you so much for supporting our science classroom!”

Funded Apr 5, 2015Thank you so much for donating to my "Help the Scientists Focus!" project! The yoga balls and the stool have created so much excitement in my classroom. My students were so eager to use the yoga balls that they helped to inflate them. They are so popular that I have to draw names on a daily basis because all of the students want a yoga ball to sit on.
The students love being able to wobble and bounce, while they are working. They are able to concentrate better. I was pleasantly surprised to see how many students wanted to use the yoga ball to help them focus. Every day, I draw names randomly to see who will sit on them. Students use them the entire class period and are much more focused.
The resources have been so popular that my students have inquired why I didn't request enough yoga balls for everyone. My students inspired me to write a new project called "Help ALL of the Scientists Focus!" I have requested 26 more yoga balls, so that every student will have one to sit on. This grant has been funded and my students are ECSTATIC to each receive a ball.
This project would not have been possible, if it wasn't for your donations. Thank you so much for supporting our classroom!”
