  • Bookworms Need Book Bins!

    Funded May 10, 2023

My students are loving being able to find books they are interested in because of these book bins. Each book bin holds a different series of books, or a set of books on one theme. I was also able to create bins of books at particular reading levels in AR so students can easily find books that interest them.

Having these book bins has really helped me create a classroom library to be envied. I have a mixture of current fiction as well as well loved classics. My students are always eager for silent reading now, and disappointed when it gets canceled. Thank you again so much for supporting this project.”

  • Let's Make It a Happy Birthday!

    Funded Aug 24, 2023

Thank you so much for providing birthday gift supplies for each student in my classroom. Because of your generous donations I was able to give each student a bubble wand, a galaxy slime, a wind-up butterfly toy and some candy. Each student in my room will have the opportunity to feel special at least one day of the year. I fill up a gift bag with the materials and the class sings happy birthday for whomever's special day it is. The items I chose were selected so my students could learn through play. These items are fun, but also teach scientific concepts through inquiry.”

  • Crazy for Color!

    Funded Aug 4, 2023

My students have enjoyed having a variety of whiteboard markers to choose from in class. They can choose from skinny or fat, whichever one feels most comfortable in their hand and makes the kinds of print they want to see on the whiteboard. They can also choose whichever color they desire. The different color choices make my students feel empowered.

My students have also enjoyed using the flair pens to revise their writing before they type it up. Getting a brightly colored pen to make changes to their writing is fun for my class. This makes them much more excited to write.”

  • If You Give a Student a Mouse, Students Will Learn!

    Funded May 8, 2023

Thank you for helping my students each acquire a mouse for their Chromebooks. The majority of my students have major problems using the mousepad on the Chromebook particularly when editing their writing. They just don't have the coordination. That is why I wrote this grant. After the students received the mice, I have had several students mention that life is much better now that they have a mouse. Thank you so much for providing them for my students, they feel supported and that people from around the country care about their personal success.”

  • Finding the Flow With Flocabulary!

    Funded May 8, 2023

Thank you for providing a Flocabulary membership for my class. Flocabulary has been incredible for helping my students build their academic vocabulary. Many of my students are English Language learners and have difficulty remembering academic vocabulary. The Flocabulary videos have engaging and catchy songs and I often see my students singing along. Flocabulary has helped my students better remember topics like text features and point of view and practice their multiplication and division facts in a fun way. Thank you so much for providing this digital resource for my students. My students are really benefitting from them!”

  • A Well Supplied Classroom Is a Successful Classroom!

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

My students have been "IN LOVE" with my refreshed bean bags. They were so deflated at the start of the year, they weren't very comfortable. Now they are! Because of the labels I received, I was able to clearly label and organize book tubs for students to find books that interest them. Each morning students come into the room and pick out two new picture books and a new chapter book (at their reading level) if they are ready for it. Students get time to read each day and practice those thinking skills to understand what they read with books they self select and enjoy. I have students who beg to read this year and that makes my heart swell with pride!

My students have also been actively engaged helping me create anchor charts and posters using the poster paper! They take pride in our classroom, because it is well supplied and welcoming.”

  • Becoming Bookworms!

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you so much for donating to my classroom. My students have loved selecting books to put in their book bags and regularly ask me, "Can I read?" Every morning students select three books to read from my library. When they choose from the new books, they beg me for time to read. I also receive many requests to take the book bags home so they can read overnight or over the weekend.

Since I have been able to add more books into my classroom library, students have been reading more and this is improving their reading skills. I know this enthusiasm for reading will have long lasting implications.”

  • We Need Supplies!

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you so much for donating to my classroom. My students have loved seeing all the new books organized in their new tubs and regularly ask me, "Can I read?" Every morning students select three books to read from my library. When they choose from the new books in the organized purple book bins, they beg me for time to read. I also receive many requests to take the book bags home so they can read overnight or over the weekend.

Students have also enjoyed having lens wipes to keep their glasses clean. Being able to see clearly has also encouraged, students more reading and this is improving their reading skills. I know this enthusiasm for reading will have long lasting implications.

Finally, my students are so excited to see the life cycle of a butterfly in action. My room is decorated in butterflies and I have done a read aloud on the biography of Maria Merian,

"The Girl Who Drew Butterflies." Finding an activity that corresponds with what Maria did in the book is going to be so exciting for the kids.”

  • Loving Poetry With "Love That Dog"!

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you so much for donating to my classroom. My students have loved reading, "Love That Dog" to learn about figurative language and poetry. Every morning students ask me what is going to happen in the book next and tell me they can't wait to find out what is going on with the fast car. Since I have been able to introduce my students to a different book structure for fiction into my classroom lessons, students have been more eager to read and this is improving their reading skills. I know this enthusiasm for reading will have long lasting implications.”

  • A Place for Everyone!

    Funded Oct 26, 2022

My students have been so excited to have and use their name tag holders to identify their desks. I had one student who said, "Now my classmates know where I sit, even if I am absent!" My students are also thrilled to have the privacy screens. My students use them when they are taking tests or if they feel they need a bit of privacy to keep them from being distracted. My students can now monitor their own focus, and have a solution if they are distracted. Thank you so much for the nametag holders and the privacy screens. My students feel like these items make their classroom a more comfortable place to be.”
