  • Work We Are Proud Of

    Funded Oct 14, 2019

Thank you so much for contributing to my classroom project, "Work We Are Proud Of." I have used the expandable file folders to serve as student portfolios to store work they are proud of. These portfolios demonstrate student growth and mastery in science this school year. I am extremely grateful and appreciative of the Donors Choose community for always supporting the work of educators around the country. It is so important in today's world that we continue to bring each other up and support each other. Especially as an educator, I have the ability to mold the future-- thank you for setting a great example!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Pitiger

  • Dive Into Year Five

    Funded Jun 5, 2019

Thank you so much for your continued support and generosity. This is the first year that I have my own 'science' classroom and with your help, I have been able to decorate the room and keep things organized. I believe my students value my classroom because it is an inclusive, safe space where all are welcome. With the supplies I continue to receive from DonorsChoose, my students are able to start the year off with the tools they need to be successful. I can never say thank you enough, I am so grateful!”

  • Veggies & Herbs For All!

    Funded Nov 1, 2018

Thank you so much for donating to my classroom project. The hydroponic system will be such a great learning tool for my students. I have planned a whole unit in my curriculum focusing on photosynthesis, cellular respiration and chemical reactions surrounding the new hydroponic system. This system will also provide my students with freshly grown herbs to bring home to their families. I have planned an awesome "competition" lab between classes where each class will cheer on an herb and track it's growth over a month long period. Using our data we will answer the question, which plant has the fastest growth rate? I am SO excited to get my hydroponic system up and running and it is all because of your gratitude and generosity that this is possible.”

It is always crucial to start the year off with the classroom essentials to set the tone for the school year. With the materials I receive from Donors Choose I have the ability to start strong and create an impression. I seriously cannot thank you all enough.”

  • Paper Goods!

    Funded Mar 2, 2018

Thank you so much for your generosity and kind words, it really goes a long way! This project was for classroom basics like paper, pencil sharpener and cleaning supplies. These are simple necessities children need to learn on a daily basis and for teachers to teach effectively. I greatly appreciate the continued support from the Donors Choose community both strangers and friends. My students were SO excited by the new pencil sharpener because the previous one was broken! It amazes me how the simple things make the biggest difference in the classroom.

Once again, thank you so much, words do not accurately describe how grateful I am.”

  • Putting the T in STEM Education(Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)

    Funded Mar 29, 2017

I cannot thank you enough for the generous support in purchasing 10 Chromebooks for my classroom. These Chromebooks have transformed my teaching, student's learning, student's engagement and student's behavior. Students have been able to use these Chromebooks to conduct scientific research on the Internet, present PowerPoint presentations to their class via Goggle Slides, work together on group Google Docs for science fair projects and engage in science games/videos that aid their learning and understanding of content. Additionally, students are now able to type essays for classes and applications for various clubs at school. These Chromebooks have been instrumental in my classroom and have given students the opportunity to use modern day technology in their learning. Technology also provides students with structure and incentives to do well. My students are extremely grateful that people have opened their hearts to them and have made the dream of a classroom with technology into a reality. The students favorite thing about the Chromebooks is that they can also be used as a tablet. Therefore, students can use the technology in a way that works best for them. Chromebooks provide students with differentiated instruction according to their individualized needs and I am so fortunate to have this as a learning option for my students.”

  • School Supplies!

    Funded Aug 30, 2016

Thank you so much for supporting my classroom this Fall. My students and I greatly appreciate all of the love and support we receive from donors. This project provided my students with basic school supplies they needed to start the year off strong. Chart paper is posted all around the classroom as various anchor charts, poster projects and norms. Students utilize the pencil sharpener everyday and the stapler always comes in handy. I could not have gotten these resources on my own and it really is the little things that count. Having packets stapled, an engaging classroom and sharp pencils are not to be taken for granted!

Thank you again for all of your support!”

  • Frog Dissection: Take A Leap With Me

    Funded Apr 6, 2016

Wow! I am so beyond grateful for the frog dissection donations. My students were absolutely amazed, engaged and fascinated by this activity. I think it built a great class community and culture allowing for curious minds to flourish and anatomy lessons to click. My students were absolutely thrilled when I told them we would be dissecting frogs and some of them were instantly nervous and just didn't know what to expect. We have been using the frog dissection as a baseline for our human anatomy unit therefore, since we dissected frogs we have made reference to them multiple times. It is amazing for me to see how much more this information sticks with them because they have a real life experience to connect it to. There were some students I saw truly engaged for the FIRST time with this activity and I am forever thankful for that moment.”
